CC'rs are always so helpful with advice and I have some questions.

1. What is the typical boarding time? We are in San Diego now at the Omni and we're planning on getting to the cruise terminal somewhere around 11:00-11:30. Is that too early?

2. We have a really nice A verandah suite, and we are perfectly happy with that, but do they sometimes offer upgrades at the pier, and if so, who would I talk to? Is it the pier coordinator?

3. We really want to try out Pinnacle Grill onboard and we tried to book it through the HAL website, but frankly it was impossible to do so, since we hadn't booked it online. I picked up the phone and called to make sure that we got a reservation, but was told that we were too close to sailing and that reservations had closed. How tough is it to get reservations once we board? Who do I talk to? Any tips on getting them, etc?

Thanks for your help. We are looking forward to trying HAL for the first time, even though this was kind of last minute and a shorty (4 day cruise) at that.

I've cruised several times out of SD. 11:00-11:30 is not too early.

I have never inquired about an upgrade, but I think I have read where some have asked at the check in counter and again at the Front Desk.

In your room, you will find the number to the Pinnacle Grill. Just go ahead and phone them and make your reservation. You can do this as soon as you get into your room, or if you prefer stop by the Pinnacle Grill when you are out exploring the ship. I am not sure if they will be open for reservations, but I am thinking I called right away, upon boarding.

I hope I was some help. I waited for someone else to respond, but didn't see any, so I thought perhaps this info. was better than nothing. Have a wonderful cruise.

1. That would be a very good time. Most often we leave the hotel around 11:15 am.

2. No

3. Very easy to get reservations-you will not have a problem.
