Last month I reserved (and paid for) the turquoise cabana for 11/7/04. I happened to be looking at the ShoreEx page and it says I am waitlisted for the blue one! I have emailed the gentleman who took the rez, but I'm sure they're prolly frantic with their current situation, and hope I'll hear back soon.
Do you think someone made a mistake, or have they put all HMC rez on hold pending damage control?

I would Probably wait until word comes as to what damage was incurred at HMC before I even gave the cabana more thought. Why waste time/energy on something that may no longer exist?!!

I already noted that... I just don't like the idea of being charged in advance for what I want and (instead) waitlisted for what I don't want. My email from this afternoon will wait in line with other non-hurricane requests until they have the time to deal with them. "Soon" can mean one day or one month.

We were charged at the time when we reserved the orange cabana as well as the Pinnacle. I took a look and it says the same thing on ours "waitlisted" but it also says this is a excursion that we booked! So I'm thinkin that it is some sort of wierd thing. Unless it is recently due to damage sustained in the hurricane.
If it turns out that they indeed waitlisted us when we were one of only two that had indeed booked the cabanas back last month.....then we will have words for HAL. But I feel like this may be nothing. Well not enough not to give them a call when the water receeds a bit! I will certainly want an explanation of the term.

Word has it that all cabanas are now waitlisted for the forseeable future. Someone by the name of Frances has priority booking.

I e-mailed HAL about 10 days ago concerning something for our up-coming cruise. I haven't heard from them and am certainly not going to e-mail them again for at least another week. They have too many other problems right now.

If there are any cabanas available in Nov remains to be seen. As far as the color goes, I seriously doubt that anyone is going to worry about the color they are painted and the placement, once they are rebuildt.

Ok, then they are getting interest on your money!

Certain colors are more popular due to location. As it happens, blue is next door to turquoise, so it's not such a big deal.
After HAL takes a look at HMC next week, it may all be a "moo point - ya know, like a cow" ... ala Joey Tribiani.

Yes, that's my point. Perhaps they will get creative and paint one to resemble a cow, kind of like the Cow's Nest on the Zuiderdam.:D

Candy- I had a hard time figuring out how to use the online reservations for HMC. The first cabana I requested said available, so I almost bought it before is saw it also said 'waitlisted' (whatever aviailable waitlisted means). The second I tried just said available, but as my husband and I are in the same cabin on the ship, it listed him as having reserved the cabana, and me as being waitlisted for it. I figure I will call them once things settle down, although I now have little hope of there actually being any cabanas available, or even a dock. BTW we are there a week after you.

For the online cabana reservations, only one person can book it - so if you have a spouse or others, it would say waitlisted if you also selected them for the excursion. That one person booking it can bring any 3 people of their choosing. It was very confusing to me at first - but after I read the fine print it made a little sense. They should really fix it so it makes more sense.

By the way, I just checked my shore excursions and it still lists our cabana as available to us - so they haven't auto waitlisted everyone because of damage - at least not yet.

I agree with the others, Candy, your going to have to wait to see what HAL finds for damage on HMC, do we even know if the island is still there??????? From what I have heard, HMC took a direct hit from Frances. When HAL knows the extent of the damage to HMC, they'll inform you. Let's hope you are able to make the stop at HMC in November!!!!
