I read that you are located west of F.L. We were supposed to fly into F.L. for our vacation on Saturday, but of course had to reschedule. We are now arriving on Thursday, 9/9, but cannot connect with anyone at our condo association by phone or e-mail. We are wondering about the general conditions there. Electricity, water, flooding? We are on the beach just north of F. L. at Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. Any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

According to the news this evening, there are now 4 million customers without electricity, that is probably why you can`t reach anyone. Plus, they could have evacuated the area......jean

I know that they did evacuate on Thursday sometime. Does anyone know if the evacuation orders have been lifted?

According to the reports on FOX News, due to downed power lines, trees, traffic lights/signs, debris-littered roadways, a huge sinkhole on I-95, authorities are pleading with people who evacuated not to attempt to return to their homes for the next couple of days. Authorities realize folks are anxious but situation is still very unsafe and they are requesting cooperation and patience. Hope all turns out well for you.

Hi :) I know where Lighthouse Point is......the sinkhole is north of that area...near West Palm Beach I believe.
The evacuation in Miami has been lifted......FOX showed many people who were at shelters going home today:) Now, I'm not sure if those people in Broward County are allowed to go home yet. I know Lighthouse is in Broward~
Wishing you all the best with your condo!
Thankfully the amount of folks without power is down to 1.8 million...from the 4mil it was earlier! Still many many people.....but FP&L seems to be doing the best job they can at this point!

I deal with travelers mostly to and from Florida. Lauderdale sustained very minimal damage. Mostly trees down, limbs, stuff like that. Yesterday on the news, people were on the beach and a local bar was open on A1A. Hope that helps.

Hi little feet,
Sorry for the delay in responding to your question. We were without power for 16 hours and without phone for 2 1/2 days. Need less to say, I was "off line".
You should have no problem getting to your condo. The fact that you are unable to make contact leads me to believe there are power and phone problems at your condo. We have friends who live in the same area and they are fine. However, your condo could be across the street or next door and have problems.
We certainly hope that you will arrive safely and find everything in order and restored and that IVAN will head in the opposite direction. Enough is enough already!!!

So sorry to hear of your power loss....these storms can be such a challenge. We did finally hear from our condo association, and they are opening back up in full on Wednesday. They stated that they have suffered only a loss of landscaping and have a sink hole in the parking lot. They did lose power as you did, but it has been restored. Thank you for your reply...I'm looking forward to arriving Thursday!
