Hello everyone.
I read the following on the HAL website, "Room Service offers reduced-price stateroom beverage packages for in-stateroom consumption of alcholic beverages."
I read that we can purchase a bottle of spirit, like bourbon, through room service. But what I'm wondering is if the room service price is cheaper than the pre-purchasing prices on HAL website.
Does anybody know what the 'reduced price stateroom beverage packages' consist of?
Thanks! Janet

All I know is if you buy wine on the web site prior to the cruise, you get it without paying the service fee. If you wait til the ship, all purchases will have the service charge applied.
Save yourself some money and get it on the web site.

Can you tell me where to find this info on the HAL website? We are cruising in Dec and would love to learn more about this.
Thanks

I asked too soon. I just found the info on the HAL website. I would be interested
in finding out what the reduced costs are if anyone knows.

Have never purchased wine on the web before but think I might start if I don't have to pay the service fee - is that the 15% tacked on?
If they deliver it to the dining room & PG to be served with our meals - do they then tack on the 15% - isn't that a tip or not? I certainly don't want to stiff anyone regarding a tip..
I am confused but it doesn't take much to do that to me these days... :)
Sure wld appreciate it if u cld enlighten me.

Although it is not listed as a service charge I think you will find that pre-purchased wine is 15% higher making it the same as the ship price.

In all the packages (online or on the ship) is the 15% Service Charge included...so it is the same!

Thanks for your help with my questions.
Still not clear re: the 15% 'service' charge - is that the tip or what and is it possible to have the wine delivered to your cabin for your own consumption there?
If that is possible then why I am charged a 15% service charge or is that then the delivery fee? I mean, if they serve it after opening it (corkage) I can certainly understand a service fee otherwise seems like just a cash 'grab' to me..

I have been reading lots of posts from everyone and learned lots of great information. I have noticed quite a few have numerous cruises already booked in advance. Just wondering how many have more than 2 cruises booked? And wished I was one of them :) .

We have ordered liquor to be delivered to our cabin through ship services and there has not been the 15% charge added. It is for consumption in your cabin only.

Can someone direct me to where on HAL's website you can do this and what the selections are? Thanks!

I couldn't find a list of the liquors available on the ship we were cruising on, but I called ship services and just asked if they had the brand I wanted and they did.
800-541-1576 is the number I called.

If you go the the Hal website, & check out the on board gifts, they have wines, Hard liquor, gifts, I have purchased a bottle of VO on our last cruise. It was certainly more than I would pay in the store, but then I did not have to smuggle it on board. There was no service charge & it was waiting in our cabin when we boarded.

You must get a different gift list than I do, because I don't see or get a list of liquor with prices on the brochure. You have to call and ask for a specific brand.

If you call ship services, they will e-mail or fax you a very detailed list - including packages like scotch and soda, rum and coke. Much more complete than what is listed to order under onboard gifts. Prices are fairly reasonable.

I recently heard that you have to sign in with your booking number
on the HAL webpage, in order to see the liquor selection.

Can someone tell me what the number would be for ship services on the Noordam? I am hoping that they will have Captain Morgan. Thanks.

see post #12 this thread. It's there. One # to call for ALL ships.

The simple solution is to logon to the web site so that your account is active. You then go to the gift section and look for the various packages. All of the options are there with all of the prices.
Good luck!
