Does anyone know about how you go about booking/finding out about excursions on a 2 week classic caribbean cruise - a friend said when she went on a cruise it was all booked in advance and your tickets are in your cabin when u get there - my TA said nothing!
thanks

Hi there,
We are going on the same cruise, when I got my invoice through I went on Island website entered name and reference no. which came up with list of trips. Hopefully this is only a selection because there are other things I'd like to do.

Found this site which arranges trips at someof the ports of call

http://grandcaymancruiseexcursions.com/Stingray_City_Buccaneer_Catamaran.htm

Hope this helps

You can browse excursions on the Island website

http://www.islandcruises.com/shorexes?poc=63&submit.x=11&submit.y=11

You can book a few months before you sail. Be warned you will be charged for your tours as soon as you book via cc (except cycle tours)......and not to your onboard account :p

wow just had a look = very expensive some of these trips ! I assume that even if you dont book an excursion there will be places to go locally by ourselves.

I assume that even if you don't book an excursion there will be places to go locally by ourselves. You're catching on fast!
DIY = Do It Yourself -and most ppl do just that!! :)

Only reason to take a Ship's tour, is if you're docked somewhere like Civitavecchia
where the trip into ROME is 50 traffic-snarled miles away.

You don't want to get left behind by the ship
so you cough up for one of Their tours, so they'll have to wait for you
if the trip back to the ship gets tied up in traffic or whatever! :)
but other than that, you can quite reliably do your own tour-ashore thing
especially if you get together with 2 or 3 other couples
to fill a local taxi or van.

It's easy..really!

we went back to the TA and they said all excursions for the cruise are booke on board - hope they are right ! would have been nice to have been able to book say like one a month and get them paid for gradually !

Hi,

You should be able to book up online on the Island Cruise website? They show the excursions and say you can book online.

Steve

Hi Steve

I went back to the TA last weekend - First choice - and saw a different rep and she said not to book online but to sort it on the cruise - if they all turn out to be wrong will just sort ourselves out ! i dont anticipate any probs really have got brave reading this site and the only place where people say is not so good is Jamaica - and have been there before so not worried about going anywhere there - but quite happy to wander about in daylight!
