Eeeek....2 out of 5 scheduled ports on the December 18 Zaandam cruise have now taken direct hurricane hits (Half Moon Cay - thank you Frances and now Barbados - thank you Ivan)-- will there be any islands left after this year's horrible season? Where will the cruise ships go?

It is going to be interesting to see what happens. Much depends on how quickly the affected areas get repaired/rebuilt. I can only imagine what headaches the schedulers are having this week.

I understand what you are saying.....We, too, have cruises coming up that may be seriously altered, but right now, I feel so badly for the people who are enduring these horrible storms that I can't worry about where we will go on our vacation. I don't mean this as judgmental or 'tsk tsk'....I just really feel so badly for people who may be losing their lives/homes/livelihoods.

arzz, we are also on that cruise along with the week before. Although I`ve been many times to all of the ports, I would hate to see them taken off of our itinerary as there will be many pax who have not sailed there. Hopefully, the Islands will bounce back as they have done many times in the past. BTW, did you check the roll call board, and sign in?......jean

I suppose you'll just sail round and round Cuba like we just did on the Zuiderdam. It really wasn't so bad. You stay cool the whole time and you don't have to hassle with taxi drivers and novelty sellers.

Dec 18 is a long ways off. By then HMC should be restored quite a bit. Don't know about the SOE program, but the beach, chairs, bars, etc. can be fixed in the next 3 months.

Those who may not get to HMC would be Lois - on next weeks Zuiderdam cruise and possibly sail7seas - the first part of October.

Dexter:

You are too funny. You made my day. :) People who cruise during hurricane season should know that one can never predict what will happen. Personally, I would love sailing round and round any island. Being on the ship, to me, is as enjoyable as being in port,

"DITTO", sail7seas, "DITTO".. We, through the grace of God, have been spared twice. I hope God's grace covers us and the rest of my community one more time... Bombero
