What kind of entertainment do they usually have on transatlantic crossings? After leaving Lisbon, we only stop at Madeira (and hopefully HMC), so that's probably the only place where they can drop entertainers and get new ones. After this, it's 7 days on the open sea. Will they just have one guest entertainer which does several shows or maybe 2 or 3 guest entertainers, each doing just one show?
Also, what kind of music styles can we expect from the live bands? I really hope there will be a good classical pianist and a strings quartet.

Typically there will be several entertainers boarding for your crossing. Each one will have an evening show, and there may be one show where several will entertain briefly---in other words, maybe one less entertainers than evenings, not counting cast shows. There may also be afternoon "chats" when an entertainer is interviewed by the CD and the passengers have an opportunity to ask questions.
I have always found the trans-Atlantic entertainers to be high caliber.
I've never sailed the Prinsendam; I do know her lounges are different then the S-class and R-class ships. On those other ships there is a variety of music styles in different lounges. The Ocean Bar has a dance combo, there is a string trio in the Explorer's Lounge playing classical and requests. The Crow's Nest has a more recent style of music and becomes the disco late at night. I know the Prinsendam doesn't have a Piano Bar.
In the last four summers I've done one west-bound and two round-trip trans-Atlantics, with a third round-trip booked for next year.
I hope you enjoy yours as much as I apparently do.

I sure hope that on Prinsendam the disco is not in the Crow's Nest as our cabin is right next to it... :-)
Joking aside, I heard that the Prinsendam doesn't have a disco and that the Crow's Nest there is more of a quiet lounge in the evening.

That's my understanding of the Crow's Nest on the Prinsendam, too.
I know that on the last World Cruise the Crow's Nest served as a type of Piano Bar, but never got the customers a Piano Bar (and Vangie, the piano player) deserve.

So they do have a piano (and piano player) up there? Very good, so we have our own private piano lounge... :-)
Ruth, what type of music was he playing?
Maybe it's mostly the suite guests frequenting the Crow's Nest as it is so close from their cabins.

Ruth - so Vangie's still around! Good for her! :oRight on, Esme! Don't know how much Vangie is still cruising, but I do know she did the last World.
I first met her in '95 when she was doing utility duty on the South Pacific cruise. She also did the Tropic Bar on the final cruise of the ss Rotterdam in '97. Haven't seen her since.
Marc, since I've never been on the Prinsendam I'm hesitant to say too much. A close friend did sail the ship and reported that one problem is the lack of a piano bar. So I know the Crow's Nest doesn't fill that bill.
I can believe it also doesn't serve as a disco. But a lounge for the nearby suites? The whole ship isn't so big that any cabin is too far away.
