Hurricane Ivan passed south of the island of Grenada.

Grenada had wind gusts of 116 mph - there was extensive damage on the island.

Right now Ivan is passing north of Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao.

Right now her projected path is towards Jamaica, over the western part of Cuba, and towards Key West.

Please pray that Florida doesn't get hit yet again and that his strength will lessen.

Lois - I'm doing the chant:

MOVE IVAN MOVE - MOVE IVAN MOVE!!!

Frances' rains have moved into our area today - lots of rain flood warning have been issued. And we don't need the rain.

MOVE IVAN MOVE - MOVE IVAN MOVE!!!

Move Ivan, Move! I can't complain because so many places have been devastated, but this is the LONGEST weekend I have ever spent. (Yeah, well I guess I will whine a little). And to think that Ivan is close on the heels of Frances . . . well, it's just more than I can take!

In Savannah we had days of tornadoes and tornado warnings. At 7:30 a.m. on Monday we were awakened by an oak tree crashing through our garage roof. That is the scariest noise I've ever heard. I think my DH and I were traumatized for about 8 hours. The cats flipped!!!

The worst thing is that the tornado warning sirens are not working on our island - actually eight sirens throughout the city didn't work (how difficult can it be to do a monthly test on a siren?????), but that's Savannah for you.

Lois, I'm praying that Ivan steers clear of your upcoming cruise. I'll be thinking of you -- LOTS!

Mellianne: I'm really sorry to hear about your garage. You're right about the anxiety created by the storms over the last few weeks. Keep your fingers crossed about Ivan. My hunch is that it will track far enough south and west to spare Florida. Let's hope.
BTW...Savanah and the Georgia islands are favorite places ou ours. We've spent lots of great times in your neighborhood. Good luck.

So sorry to hear about your garage. How badly damaged were your cars?

Have had 2 inches of rain so far today and more is on the way. The gound is saturated and trees are falling.

Hope IVAN turns towards Mexico!!!

Wow, KK, that's a lot of rain. That mean old Frances is relentless. I hope the trees in your immediate area stay vertical!! By the way, the tree didn't penetrate into the bottom of the garage. It was stopped by the garage attic floor, thank goodness. My car was parked in the driveway, though, and I'm so thankful the tree missed it!!

DFD1, take care up in TN. My husband went to college in Dayton, TN, so we are familiar with the Chatty area. It's become such a beautiful town!

I just got this from my mom, who has lived in 'Old Town' Key West for nearly 40 years

Well. we managed to get through two of the hurricanes with only minor problems. (Power outages, briefly. And a few branches down.) That is why you haven't heard much from me. However, the new storm "Ivan" is really a bad one. Tonight they say on the TV news that Key West is the target. SO far the date is Sunday, subject to change of course. I'm worried about this one. No doubt you will hear on the news what happens. I have groceries, gasoline, water, and a generator with 10 gallons of gas. The people in 807 (her other house) are on vacation, so no one is nearby. No word from the Key West mayor on what to prepare for. I hear the navy is moving women and kids off the base. but it may be a rumor.

Move, Ivan! MOVE!

We've got her today, expecting upward of 3" today. Our record was 19" in less than 24 hours a few years ago, had severe flooding in many areas around Portland.

I'm chanting with you and for you (your mom). Move, IVAN, MOVE!

I'll keep her in my thoughts.
