Can anyone tell me which aft decks will be completely covered after the refurbishment of the Oosterdam next April? I wanted an AFT balcony, but only if it is UNCOVERED.

As long as they continue to to do with the Oosterdam what they did with the Westerdam and I beleive they did the same on the Zuiderdam then you will want to avoid Deck 5 while it has the largest cabin and balcony it will be completely covered. Deck 4 is the only deck that will remain exactly the way it was prior to the aft lift and will have the most uncovered area.

What about 6 and 7?

Having just got off the Westerdam, assuming the work being done to the Oosterdam is the same as was done to the Westerdam, and having looked very closely at the stern cabins to give us info for future bookings, I would have to:

-Agree with Laffnvegas. Deck 4 is unchanged. Deck 5 balconies are immense, but fully covered.

Decks 8, 7 and 6 slope gently, giving Deck 8 balconies the most sun, but also the least privacy from above. Deck 7 has a little less sun, and a little more privacy, and so on to Deck 6.

If I can answer any other questions, I will try. As mentioned, we looked very closely at the stern, and talked to two different sets of cabin residents about their stern cabins.

What about 6 and 7?

Aft verandas on 6 and 7 will be smaller than they are now, and about 50% covered. Again, this is assuming that they do to Oosterdam exactly what they did to Westerdam. I haven't been following posts on the Zuiderdam, but if the work on Z was the same as on W, then I assume O will also be the same.

Did decks 6 and 7 lose balcony space and if so, how much? Was the balcony furniture on 4 plastic, while the other decks for the same category, VA, have teak?
