Read somewhere HAL was considering discontinuing the PG breakfast for suite pax.
Any truth to this or have they already eliminated it?
Thanks for any info..

They originally discontinued this perk a few years ago and then brought it back. I haven't heard anything about it being discontinued again.

I consider that a great perk - I am so relieved. I mean, my cruise wld be totally 'ruined' without it :D
Thanks so much for responding.....Happy cruisin'!

Wow, that's great! How did you find out about this perk and is there some kind of list?

I think I found out about it here on this board. It may be listed in suite perks as special breakfast amenities. It is mentioned but not clearly defined. No list - just show your cruise card to confirm that you are in a suite. After the first time or two, they didn't even ask because they recognized us.

Suite guests can enjoy breakfast in Pinnacle. It is the same menu as the dining room. A lovely way to start the day.......
We are more the comfortable Room Service breakfast types for lazy luxury. It's a treat to have our breakrfast brought to us but the times we have gone to Pinnacle, it has been very, very nice.

I thought that I should add that the breakfast in the Pinnacle is on the Vista class ships. Many of the older ships have the suite breakfast in the Kings Room. Either way, it is very nice.

That's true but Maasdam offers Suite guests breakfast in Pinnacle. Last time we went there I had their Breakfast Parfait. High calorie but so delicious.

Don't get too excited. Be aware that the breakfast you enjoy in the Pinnacle is the exact same breakfast your fellow cruisers are enjoying in the dining room. It's just that suite passengers get to eat it in the supposedly quieter, more sedate environment of the Pinnacle.
I honestly don't know what the difference would be ... other than if the cruise had a lot of kids, you might avoid them in the Pinnacle ... but the menu served is the exact same one that others not in suite accommodations are enjoying in the main dining room.
So, what is the particular attractiveness of this perk?

It's still a nice perk to me. The little things in life excite me :-) Most likely I'll still only do it once the whole cruise, but no need to rain on my happy dance parade!

Kyros, I think you answered your own question. It a serene and civilized way to start the day - even if I am eating oatmeal.

The other benefit of breakfast in the Pinnacle is the Pinnacle coffee is served which in my opinion is one of the better coffees served on the ship. I am not a coffee expert my any means but I do know when a coffee tastes better than most. This coffee has a frothy top to it and is excellent and and if you like creamer with your coffee they it served with real cream.:)

I'm sorry. I honestly didn't mean to do that. Hope you have a wonderful time enjoying your "Pinnacle perk."

As many know here on this site, we love eating breakfast in the Pinnacle. That wasn't the case on our recent Westerdam cruises. Service was not up to par. Some times we waited over 40 minutes for our meals. Orders were mixed up. Many of the dishes were made by the regular dining room kitchen and came cold. It didn't do any good to send anything back -- nothing changed.
I love some of the pancake specials. On other ships they were made to order. Not on this ship -- all pancakes and waffles were made ahead and placed on warming plates. And those warming plates do not keep anything warm -- I have mentioned this in the past.
There wasn't any foam on the coffee -- same as that served in the dining room.
We had very few breakfasts in the Pinnacle - we were on the Westerdam for 26 days.

We just returned from a Westerdam R/T Alaska cruise and enjoyed several mornings in the PG. We tried breakfast in the dining room one morning and it was not good. (No bagels after :30 minutes of serving and the alternative was very burnt toast; my omelet was raw in the middle but the server didn't return until my husband had finished his burnt toast and eggs)
Service was ok for us in the PG and I was allowed to be more specific with my order (i.e. bacon well done, etc.)
The food/menu is the same but the service was significantly better. Our Vista dining room evening meals were very good and service was excellent.
Enjoy the PG - nice way to start your day

Shame regarding your PG breakfasts - always one of my favorite experiences & yes, especially the great coffee & usually hot food also! I wld have been disappointed esp on a long cruise :(
Please tell us more regarding your trip & the food experiences. Did u dine in the evening or for lunch in the PG & if yes, more than once? What were your impressions of the dining room food?
Appreciate your posting..its always so informative! :)

Thanks for posting - Sounds like the dr food wasn't very good for breakfast - or perhaps this was this just for that one breakfast? How were the lunches?
Did u try the PG for dinner?
Appreciate any info. Thanks..:)

This was my first time staying in a suite and having PG breakfasts. While I enjoyed the quiet atmosphere as opposed to the wild Lido on this cruise, we had several breakfasts that were not that great. On the last morning, we had wet, uncooked French toast. We chose not to say anything since it was the last morning and it was probably because the cooks were rushing through - but it was definately bad.
It was a nice perk to not have to eat in the Lido because it was so crowded on this cruise, but the food was not that great. Not impressed.
Didn't eat there for any other meals - just breakfast.

Will let you know in a month if they're still serving Break-y in the PG...

When you say breakfast in the PG is available to suite guests I am presuming you mean Deluxe and above not superior verandah. Is that correct?

That is correct. The SA, SB, SC deluxe suites and the penthouse guests only.

I know I've asked before, but search is nearly impossible right now, so please someone remind me:
What can you get for breakfast in the Neptune Lounge? If you don't need a full hot sit-down breakfast is it enough to tide you over until lunch? Are there any hot options?

I think instant oatmeal is your only hot breakfast option. It's more of an elegant continental breakfast. Lots of fruit, bagels, salmon, danish, raisin buns - all great stuff. We like it as a snack to go with that fantastic morning coffee. Then it's off to the Pinnacle for us. Though, there certainly IS enough to make a meal of it.

Thanks! If can get fruit, bagels, salmon, danish, and raisin buns, I will have eaten a far larger breakfast than I usually do.
Too bad I don't drink coffee. Sounds like that's the biggest draw.

So, what is the particular attractiveness of this perk?
This is one of my favorite perks. The PG is lovely, it is quiet, the china and silver is elegant and they are very accomadating to my special requests.
It may not be "attractive" to everyone, but we really enjoy it. Whether the food is any different or not, we enjoy the ambiance and service a lot.
If we can't make the PG, we opt for room service.

Sorry....... We've never seen bagels in Neptune. They have the smoked salmon and cream cheese but in all our mornings in various Neptune Lounges, never saw a bagel. (Get that from Room Service.) ;)

The only lunches we had in the Pinnacle were the suite lunches.
We ate several times in the evening in the Pinnacle -- always have had great meals there.
Dinner in the dining room -- very good. No complaints in that department.

On some ships we have seen the tiny bagels for breakfast. They weren't in the Neptune on the Westerdam. They did have donuts -- once again we have seen them on some ships.
There is also cold cereal available.
Also a couple choices of cheese.
We have been able to get enough to eat there to last until lunch time.

I could be wrong, Sail, but thought sure I saw a nice pile of bagels - halved, then quartered, on our last cruise. I don't normally choose that for a pre-breakfast snack though (I prefer something a little sweeter), so it's best to say I'm not certain. :)
