Just booked a 4 person inside cabin. I read somewhere that if only 2 people end up going, we'll probably be moved. She did ask me on the phone if I'd consider an upgrade. What would that "upgrade" most likely be?

The upgrade question is automatic and asked to just about everyone. Don't get too excited about it and expect an upgrade. You could get lucky but don't count on it.

What category cabin for 4 did you book?

I'm booked in J1049. I also noticed it has a service walkway for employees only on one side of it. Looks like we're right below the casino/piano bar. I'm wondering if that's such a good spot? I've never been on Holland America before, but have loved the other 5 cruises I've been on. Looking forward to checking Holland America out. I'm not expecting an "upgrade", just wondering if they'll move me to "bad" cabin and say it's an "upgrade" to get the 4 person cabin back.

You didn't mention ship. :)

I'll pull out the deck plans and figure out what class.......Is it a Vista?

Oops, sorry! It's the Oosterdam.

I've selected a J-cat quad on the Noordam and the E-dam. That's as a single, too! I wasn't upgraded. :(

However, the last time I tried to book the same area there were "no cabins available". Strange, since this was a year in advance. I have to wonder if HAL isn't accepting bookings for those cabins anymore unless there's enough people to fill 'em.

btw---I thought those cabins were spacious for one; would be fine for two. For three, someone might want to jump overboard; for four---I'd be the one jumping overboard! :D

I was sort of surprised they let me pick the quad. I actually picked it because it was suppose to be bigger then the regular inside cabins (something like 207sq ft instead of 145 or whatever). Thought the extra room might be nice.
