I have read on this board that you may request a new dining assignment by email to "Ship's Services". Has anybody had any success by doing this? We booked our cruise many, many months ago and requested the latest dining time. We have also cruised with HAL in the past. Anyway, after receiving our doc's we find that we are seated at the earliest time. We have'nt had this time since our kids were little and now our kids have kids, that's how long ago it's been. Any suggestions to getting a later dining time would be appreciated.

Hi:) did you book through travel agent? If so, I am surprised they didn't ask you what seating you prefer....
I would suggest calling your TA (if that is who you booked with) and they can request a seating time for you.
If you booked directly through the cruiseline, I would suggest calling Customer Service. Dining times are never 100% guaranteed but better that you ask about it and at least get your names put on the waiting list (if there is one on your particular cruise).
Also, after you board the ship, I would go see the Maitr'd as soon as he/she is available. They are ultimately the ones who set up the seating charts.

Ditto Lois' advise. You probably have a good chance of changing when you board if you cannot before as alot of people think 8:30 too late for dinner and prefer the earlier. 'Good luck.

yes, we booked through an on-line agency we have used for over 10 previous cruises and never a problem. Thanks for the advice.

Can't be sure, but it sounds like they did not place your request and HAL made a random assignment.

I just made a change to our dining choice for our November cruise by emailing Ship Services. I received an automated receipt of my message immediately, and then within a day a personal email came. They were able to accomodate us for the first week of our back-to-back, and waitlisted us for our second week. It's worth a try contacting them before you get on the ship.
