Hi. We leave shortly on our cruise and I have decided that I would like to have a higher category cabin. (There is availability) My agent was not available today. i was told by the person covering that I would have to cancel my cruise and be penalized and then book the cabin that I woud like at the regular brochure rate, i.e. I would not be able to book it at the discounted rate this makes very little sense to me. I would be happy to pay the difference between what ever I paid and the discounted rate for a suite How exactly does this work Thanks Sandy I have read on this board about upsells How do we become eligible for an upsell?

Sandy I have read on this board about upsells How do we become eligible for an upsell? You simply tell you agent that you like to consider any up-sells that HAL tells her/him become available. Usually it's not a case of strict dollar differences between what you paid and what the new cabin is selling for - it's just "you can go to class X for $Y per person". HAL initiates these offers when they are oversold on the cabin class that you are holding. It is not necessary to cancel and rebook if they initiate the change - only if you do because you're trying to get a "new-bookings" price on a better cabin.
Even if your agent doesn't find you an up-sell, ask again when you get to check-in.
