Whenever I get an HAL mailing citing specific cruise specials, I read it carefully hoping to either find a cruise we'd like to take or to find maybe we'd get a discount off a cruise we already had booked.

For as long as I can remember, each time I call to ask for the price for an "S" that pertains to that special, I'm always told, "So sorry....doesn't apply to Category "S".

Today, I got a mailing showing Promo Code RH/RA and figured I was only wasting my time but I would have been upset with myself if I didn't check.

SURPRISE, SURPRISE....... we are saving about $900!!!

That is definitely worth a 5 minute phone call!

(This is for a December cruise so have not yet made final payment.)

Can I ask the details of your trip? I'm always looking for a good deal and I'm always looking for a good vacation. Thanks

It is fourteen days on Maasdam, Fort Lauderdale, round trip, in an "S" cabin. I'm sure you don't want me to post what we're paying. :)

Congratulations.

The cruises we have been booking -- never do they go down in price. In fact all I see is the price going up and up.

That's exactly my point. We haven't been able to take advantage of any of these special offers as they never apply to "S" cabins. I almost didn't bother calling as I've repeatedly been told 'No'. For almost all our cruises, the prices go up, up, up......we book early to get the best price. The "S" Class ships, particularly, are costlier because there are so few "S" cabins in comparison to other ships.

Sail, that is GREAT!:) Congratulations.

Can I ask was it for a specific sailing or ship. We too are sailing in a S Suite on the Eurodam in December and if there was a significant drop in cost then we too would be thrilled and not have to think about booking a lower category?

Also we are in a SC guarantee for the Noordam next November 1st. Must get my TA to check it out. Thanks.

It's the fourteen day Maasdam cruise, FLL to FLL, December 5.\
There were other cruises listed but that was the only one of our future bookings that it applied to. Darn!

Congratulations, sail. You can put those savings toward another cruise! :D

Now why didn't I think of that, Ruth? :)

Lisa..... I checked the promo and the only Eurodam sailing to which it applies is a ten day Canada/New England and a 14 day repo Quebec to FLL.

What a nice surprise. It's tough to fill a ship in early December and the first week of the new year. These always seem to be heavily discounted.

I guess your ship has come in.

How do you get on the mailing list for flash sales?

Congratulations on the savings! Would I contact our TA or HAL to see if our cruise in December has sale offers?

Good for you Sail :)

You never know until you ask.

Better to save $900 than to kick yourself for not.

ENJOY:)

For the most part, cruisers check the web for lower prices and if they find one they contact their TA to see if they can match it. Most TA's (not all) don't do that leg work. It's sort of up to you to find the lower price....that is what happened in my case. The flyer came, I read it, found a lower price offered by HAL and made the call to see if we could get it.

Good luck.

Definitely. I would be upset with myself if I didn't make the call and later learned we could have qualified.

I'm delighted that for a change we found a 'deal' for a Suite. It's been a very long time since there were any particular savings on the "S" cabins.

Of course, now I'm looking for 'deals' on the other cruises we have booked. :) Always want more, more, more..... :D @$#@$#@$#@
