This is probably the wrong place to post this, but truthfully I never leave the HAL forum. Are you all getting your email notifications? I'm on AOL and I usually get one for a thread, but until I go back into the forum I won't get anymore. So I miss a lot of posts unless I go back and read.
But today I've noticed I'm hardly getting any at all yet there are a ton of posts on the threads I've posted on. Just wondering how it's working for all of you.

Heather,
Don't know if this is the problem, but once you get an e-mail notification of a thread, you won't receive another until you go back and read that thread. So if there's been 10 posts since you read it last you'll only recieve one notification.

Thanks for explaining that. I was wondering why some days I receive more notifications than another. Obviously if I only look at the Board once during the day and post and then not get back to it I only receive the one notification for that post.

It is a good thing I spend almost all days on the boards because I guess I am not signed up to get notifications. It is amazing I get any work done while I am at work:eek: I am now at home and actually get the whole weekend off:D

I never bothered to sign up for the notifications.
I figure I am on here enough that I don't need to get the notifications.

I did know this, but sometimes the notice I get isn't until after 10 to 15 people have posted. It's no biggie ... just wondered.
I have to admit, though, that as much as I love the new boards and features, I did prefer the old email notifications because I got every one and there was a direct link to the thread.

I haven't gotten any since the system changeover - although I have tried to "tell the system" I want them.
It took several attempts before I could get the new system to add my signature to my posts.

Just wondering how it's working for all of you.It might be related to the change of format. The e-mails were coming from a cruisecritic dot com address, but now the "from" line is set to the aol dot com address that was being used immediately before the changeover to the new boards.
One thing that I'm thinking is that maybe some aggressive spam filters are blocking some of the e-mails.

I can't say that I like the new system. You never know whether the notification you get is the only response, in which case there would be no need to go to the thread unless you wanted to reply, or there are many responses. So you just need to go open the thread any time you get a notification or you may miss something. It is handy for roll call threads that aren't added to very often.

That's why I'm not fond of it either.
Globaliser, I added "Upfortravel" to my address book so my spam filter doesn't block it. The odd thing is that sometimes I don't get a notice until 5-10 people have responded to the thread. Visiting one thread, I saw I'd missed an entire page.
IMHO, the old system was much better as far as email notifications were concerned. Oh, well, in the scheme of things I guess it's not that important. I finally put the HAL board on my "toolbar" on AOL so I can quickly access it.
