We will be traveling on The MS Noordam for a 10-night Medditeranean Cruise out of Rome. We will be flying into Rome on August 23 and will be staying in Rome for two nights before getting a transfer to the port the day of the cruise. We have yet to book our hotel in rome or our transfer. I was wondering if anyone out there knew of a good hotel to book and a good transfer service, as this is the only part of the trip that we have yet to book. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I suggest you go on the Ports of Call Boards, click on Europe and then on Mediterranean. There are many threads dealing with both hotels in Rome and transfers to the ship. My personal favorite in Rome is Hotel Mozart, very near the Spanish Steps and a great hotel. It's about 1 1/2 hours from Rome to the port of Civitavecchia.

We stayed at Hotel Aberdeen on via Firenze. It had good reviews and we would stay there again. We used Rome Cabs for all our transportation and highly recommend them.

We stayed at the Hotel Cosmopolita last year for three nights and loved it. It was very close to most of the major sights. Just last week, on our way home from our Zuiderdam cruise, we stayed at the Hotel Medici. We picked the Medici because it was closer to the train station, and we were arriving in Rome by train from Venice. It, too, was nice; very clean and comfortable, but I did like the Cosmopolita better.

Try the Hilton at the Fiumincino Airport. We 've stayed there before and are again for the August 15 cruise. They have a free shuttle in to Rome.
