We've done whale-watching in Samana D.R. E. Caribbean) - that's the Dominican Republic not Dominica. I undertsnad Dominca (S. Caribbean)also offers whale watching in winter months as the previous poster suggests.

Dominica-- there are ship tours for whale watching.

After having been stopping there many times over the last number of years, in March we actually got to see some whales as we approached the island!!

you will see mostly sperm or other small whales that are just a little bigger than dolphins. The big ones seem to stay in the Pacific near Hawaii. I was disappointed on 2 whale watching trips.

It's very hit-and-miss for whales in the Caribbean. You could easily be disappointed

However, go to Hawaii in January-February and you will see humpback whales like crazy. It's mating season there then and the whales really put on a show. At one point we saw two adult and one baby whale all leaping out of the water and crashing down again. amazing! And we were just on a snorkeling excursion, not a whale watching trip.

I've never seen a whale in the Caribbean and we've spent hundreds of days there. :( My loss.

We have, however, seen lots of whales in the waters just north of Boston and on our Canada/New England cruises.
