Turning over reservation when category closed

How can I get a quote on my existing reservation when the category is closed? I would like to turn it over to a travel agent to get a reduced fare but how can I check how much it would be?

One travel agent told me that they would find out what I paid and take a percentage off. But this would still be higher than they were asking last week. Any suggestions?

Well if I am understanding this...you made a reservation through HAL directly and now you want to "convert" it to an agency. I believe you just have to authorize HAL to change it to the agent. It's true you can't get pricing on a category that is closed, but that's not necessary in this case. The reservation # and price will remain the same and if the agent wants to discount, the reservation will have the detailed pricing on it. The agent just requests a fax a copy once they are listed as agent. I hope that helps.

Thanks for the information. The problem is that when they had rooms in that category available a couple of weeks ago it was much cheaper than this method of taking a percentage off the price I had paid. I guess I waited too long to make a decision.
