My family will be arriving in Vancouver either one or two days before boarding the Zaandam in June. What hotel did you stay at, the cost and was it close to the Cruise terminal? Did you book the hotel on line?

We used priceline for a 4 star in early July and stayed at the Hyatt Regency for $65 per night. A very nice, large room within walking distance of Canada Place. This was my first experience with Priceline and I was very impressed.

I've stayed at Canada Place (which is also the pier!), and across the street at the Fairmount Waterfront. Each place is elegant, good food, perfect setting.
Expensive, but worth it.

Last year, we found a great price with the Delta Pinnacle hotel. The Delta was a gorgeous hotel, nice room, indoor pool, and walking distance from the main shopping areas, and a 10 minute walk to the park. You could also walk to Canada Place, but with luggage, we opted for a $10 taxi ride straight to the baggage drop off.

We've stayed at the Pan Pacific Hotel, which is at Canada Place. As Ruth said, expensive, but well worth it. They and I understand also the Fairmont across the street, will take your luggage to the ship for you. We just called the Bell Captain, he picked up the luggage and next time we saw it, it was in our cabin.

Our favorite is the Fairmount--lovely rooms with lovely views. You can watch your ship sail in if you're an early riser! Also, the bellmen will take your luggage and see that it is checked in. All you have to do is get yourself across the street to Canada Place, where you'll board.

We have stayed at the Fairmont Waterfront twice-loved it each time.-excellent hotel, and oh, so convenient to Canada Place. Yes it is expensive, but as RuthC said, it is worth it.

Stayed in many of the hotels in Vancouver. You'll be pleased with any of the 4 star hotels in the area. I think the best hotel in Vancouver is the Wedgewood. It is a smaller hotel but it is very very elegant. Most are located within a short cab ride to the pier. Vancouver is a very beautiful city, hope you arrive early and take time to enjoy the city.

I totally agree with BillS on this one! The Fairmont Waterfront is a totally class act and you can walk underground to/from Canada Place where embarkation occurs. :) We have stayed there twice and been upgraded both times. :D One time it was a post-cruise stay and they allowed us to check in and gave us a room (with the upgrade) at 9:00am!!!! (Now that is exemplary service) The Hotel has an awesome view of you HAL ship the morning it arrives!

We also have stayed at the Hyatt Regency, which is a few blocks from Canada Place. It is an excellent hotel, and we were able to use our Hyatt points to get a free room.

We just got back from an Alaska cruise and stayed pre-cruise at the Hyatt for 4 nights. Got it through priceline at $65. Talked to someone else who got it for $59! But here's the good part. Before we left I faxed a request for a non-smoking room, King bed, and upper floor (I mentioned it was our 30th Anniversary). I later called to be sure they got the fax. We not only did we get a room on the 28th floor with a balcony, but they sent up a bottle of champagne with some chocolate covered strawberries. We never expected them to treat a Priceline customer that way, so we were very impressed.:D
