While skipping thru some really funny posts on this board, I came across one that was not so funny from someone who seemed rather upset with HAL and some new policies. This person mentioned that the self-serve laundries have gone be the wayside.
We've been on Ryndam twice and both times used the launderette. We're doing the canal again in January and I was depending on it being there. The ship plan on the website shows that there are laundries. Are they still on Ryndam? Will they be there after the dry dock?

The new larger Vista class ships- Zuiderdam, Oosterdam, and Westerdam- do not have self service laundries. The other ships have not been changed from what you are used to. :)

We are booked on Westerdam for the Ft. Lauderdale to Rome cruise that departs late April 2005. Since we like to travel light and there are no self-service laundries on board, we would like to know what the cost will be for laundry service and what the typical turnaround time is.

We paid $12.00 for a laundry bag stuffed as full as we could get it, I rolled up everything and I was able to get 3 days worth each for me and hubby, I did my own under garments. Turn around was 2 days. They also had weekly unlimited laundry, and unlimited dry cleaning specials. Not sure what the cost was tho sorry.
