Good morning! I hope you have had your coffee already :) . Does anyone know if the Maasdam has any high end coffee (i.e. Starbucks) and how much it costs? Thanks.

The Exploration's sells high end coffee -- starts at $1.95 -- DH thinks it is better than Starbucks.

That wouldn't take much in my opinion:D :D . I'm not a fan of Starbucks.

I am a big Starbucks fan. I'm drinking it right now. The Ryndam's Explorations Cafe had "high end" coffee. I'd think that all the Explorations Cafes serve the same stuff. It was fine, but I never truly felt as though I'd gotten my "fix", y'know?

I've found the coffee bars/cafes on several HAL ships serve quite good coffee. The prices seem reasonable to me. There is also the availability of a coffee card good for several coffees during the cruise.
The coffee in the lido, on the other hand, leaves much to be desired, IMO.

I'm NOT a coffee drinker, but my wife and daughter both said the room service coffee on Noordam was better than the Lido's....and it's free.

IMO, the Explorations Cafe brews, sells and serves pretty good coffee AND.........they're still cheaper than Starbucks, the Coffee Bean, etc. Oh yeah, you can get a free cookie or something similar with it. Life is good!:)

We enjoy the coffee in the Explorations Cafe...well worth spending the $$$ for a coffee card to enjoy...if you crave a good cup of joe! ;)

I respectively disagree that it is worth it to buy coffee. Aside from the
Pinnacle Grill which serves coffee from Holland, it is weak dishwater.
One should be able to get decent coffee in the Lido as part of the
cruise purchase.

Evidently no one on this forum has coffee at truck stops.
If it's black and hot, it's OK; no need to break open the piggy bank for a fancy brand name.

I've had coffee at truck stops. And black/hot, while effective, is utilitarian. I'm ex-military and I've had some really vile brew masquerading as coffee. But that was out of necessity--it was all there was.
With the offerings in the Explorations Cafe, I need not settle for "black/hot" in Lido. To me it's worth $1.95 to be able to taste a really good cup of coffee. I enjoy the flavor of coffee. (and no, what occurs to truck stop coffee after a couple hours on the burner cannot accurately be described as "flavor"--at least, not in a complimentary sense of the term.)

Like a McDonalds and you can get a good cup of coffee and and a steak bagel. They have Jonnie Rockets on RC.

Wow! I'm so glad to hear that someone else thinks the Lido coffee is undrinkable! Muddish, in my opinion, with moldy overtones.
My solution so far has been Neptune Lounge machine and European instant on the Prinsendam. I really hate the idea of making the trek to the Explorers' Lounge early in the AM, but....
How much is the coffee card, and for how many cups?

I had a friend in college who was radioman on an ammo carrier in WWII. He told me they had coffee on 24/7 for over two years. When they finally let the pot cool down, it was too far gone to clean  they just threw it away and started another! Now That's bad coffee!!
PS: I'd rather have a good tea than bad coffee.:)
