Yesterday we received our documents for our cruise on the Prinsendam in just over two weeks time, cannot believe our wonderful trip will soon be here.:) :)
Tomorrow I retire after 15 years and am looking forward to spending more time with my family and friends. This started out as a part time position to fill in some time after our daughter was married. 15 years later still working for the same surgeon and not just for 2 days a week!! :o :o
Now our life really begins especially as my DH will probabaly be retiring in November. ;)

Congratulations on your retirement Jennie. What a wonderful way to celebrate by going on the Prinsendam. :D
I started volunteering 17 years ago at our local school - hadn't worked for 30 years - that turned into a full time, then part-time job. From there I went to work for a Charlity part-time for 4 years and left when my first grandchild was born as they lived in another city and I wanted to be able to visit any time I chose. We went on the Rotterdam V to Hawaii for my retirement and that was the best cruise I have been on.
Enjoy and have a wonderful time.

THe past, as they say, is merely prelude to the future when the real music begins to play. Grab that baton and strike up the band!

Kryos, Esme, Sail, DFD1, Ruth, Dave and Ziggy 7,
Thank you all for your good wishes. We do have lots of lovely cruises planned and are looking forward to everyone of them.
I must say though that this one on the Prinsendam will be very special as we are going to some wonderful ports and then we are finishing in our two favourite cities, Venice and Paris.

Having been retired for 7 years - you'll love it.
So much time to cruise and do the things that you keep saying you don't have time to do.

Retirement ... what a beautiful word! Congrats. Now you'll have the time to do so many things you're added to your to-do list for all these years. We fly out Saturday on our way to the Prinsendam. We'll do our best to leave it in great shape for you.

The retired people I know are happier and busier than those with jobs.

We look forward to meeting you Liz on the Transatlantic next year in July.

Jennie, wish you congrats along with all the others on your retirement. It truly is a wonderful time. I was with you on the Tahitian Princess last winter. Still have such wonderful memories of those beautiful islands. Hope you get your husband to retire soon, as well. I remember standing on the beach talking with you about your hopes for future travel. Sounds as if it is all working out for you.
I am doing New England in October with a new friend from Orlando and also going to the Caribbean again with my daughter in December. Then perhaps a trip to Hawaii in February to escape our bad winter. Nothing as grand as last year but just enough to keep the coming months interesting.
Enjoy your Prinsendam adventure and above all fill your days with joy. Hope to keep in touch with you through these boards.

Gwen,
How lovely to have caught up with you again and thanks for your good wishes. I have been a bit teary this morning as the girls at work have just given me the biggest, most beautiful bunch of flowers. It is early spring here and the loveliest of flowers are out.
Your trips sound great. Wasn't the Tahiti trip wonderful and of course you had been to Australia and New Zealand beforehand. I look forward to reading more about your travels.
