Thanks to all the encouragement from fellow cruisers I am now totally reconciled to my "upgrade" to an H category. I would love to see a picture. Is the room the same size as other outside rooms and does it have a tub?
It is such a comfort to know that if i am ever ill I only need to step out my door to go to the infirmary. LOL
Anyone take a picture of their room?
Thanks
Deb

I read that string and loved it. Particularly the picture of the stairway window. I felt guilty for laughing but seems they had my bad luck. I don't have a picture but I can tell you we once stayed in a porthole cabin and it was wonderful. It may just have been an illusion but we seemed closer to the water when looking out and we found ourselves fascinated by it.. You get the sense of old fashioned cruising and history. I suspect you are going to love it. I know I did. I'd take that over an obstructed view or inside cabin any day. Have a wonderful adventure.

Deb -You COULD have had MY luck! In 1978 my in-laws took our family on a cruise; DH & 2 teenage girls. We had the CONNECTING cabin next to them -and the bed arrangement was twin beds that folded out of the walls at right angles to each other. We were young an IMPETUOUS; so one day we locked the connecting door -planning to "take a nap" -if you get my drift. My MIL pounded on the door and remained angry because "We LOCKED her OUT" .....OR there was the room on the old "Royal Princess" where we had to climb over the END of the bed in the middle of the night as the bed was pushed into a corner [ TRUST me on this -CLIMBING is NOT my thing ]
OTOH -I NEVER met a cruise I didn't LOVE telling stories about later....Oh Yah; and the Royal????? We rode out hurricane Bonnie on THAT one; while everyone else got sick/stuck in their rooms -our table mates and us went to a bar toward the front of the ship and rode it like a roller-coaster as it ROLLED forward & back with the HUGE waves!
You'll be fine, Deb - OR you'll have "tales" to tell!

I hope that I did this right and you will actually get to see the photo.
We loved our cabin last fall on the ms Amsterdam with two portholes. It did not seem smaller, except that instead of a bathtub we had a huge tiled shower. My husband loved it, and I was OK with it. Enjoy your upgrade :)

on the Amsterdam, IMO, as it is such a great ship.... We also had a shower in our balcony room (6118). It seemed to take up the same space as the tub did on the Oosterdam, so not sure why it was there. However, we preferred having the shower only, and the multi colored tiles added some style to the standard plain bathroom. :D :D :D
