Hi there

We booked a PS Suite on the baltic coming up, at first we thought we wanted the RS but then the T A told us that another traveller had booked a RS and was mortified at the noise from the anchor daily.

I read somewhere that the S S on the 6th deck are obstructed, i am hoping this PS is not :)

Can anyone comment on the PS suites on this ship?

We are CC members, it seems there is conflicting information all over the place regarding if Azamara offers anything to CC members onboard, are u able to pre book your spec res? can you request a seating for 2 at a specific time daily?

many earlier reviews commented that the "shore excursions " and shuttles were not well organized at all? any comments on Europe/ Baltic?

In a PS are you able to order Room service and have the identical menu's from the main dinning rooms? Is their a salon on this ship, look forward to your replies,

Getting very excited to get onboard shortly......:):) :) :D

If you are in a Royal Suite on deck 6, you will hear the anchor dropping. Should there be rough water, you will feel more motion in this location. If there are high winds, it would be difficult to use the balcony.

Penthouse Suites are not obstructed.

If by SS, you are referring to Sky Suites, they are not located on deck 6. They are located on deck 8, and there are two that are obstructed, which are #8070, and #8073.

I haven't been on the Journey, but was in a Penthouse on the Quest. Ours was deck 7. Our review is at: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=700171

The Penthouse gets many perks, some that are listed on Azamara website, others are not. There is no doubt that you will be well treated.

Though Azamara has open seating, they will cater to every passenger (but particularly to you as you are in the Penthouse.) If you ask the Assistant Maitre'd, he'll recommend a time that he can "usually" seat you at a table for 2. We had a table for 2 every night, most often the same table, but not always.

You can contact the Captains Club and prebook some of the nights for the speciality restaurants. The policy has changed, so you may only be able to prebook 1 or 2 nights.

You can have the same dinner delivered to your suite by your butler.

PLEASE ask your butler for anything. I found the more you ask, the more you get and the happier the butler is. The absolute last thing Azamara wants is for you to complete your cruise and think "What was the butler supposed to do? He didn't do anything special." The one we had was the best butler we've ever had. We didn't pester him, but we did make requests or express preferences, and one time was all it took! He was great!

Get excited! It is a truly fantastic suite. The balcony is huge. You'll love it!

At what point did you approach the Maitre'd and was a tip involved ?

Did you get a window table each night and finally at around what time was best ?

I was on the Journey in March - the Maitre'd was Richard and he is fantastic. Let him know what you want the first night you go to dinner. He will make it happen. You should not have to tip him, however, if you are extremely happy with him by the end of your cruise, I would give him something. He doesn't have his hand out, he is one of the best maitre'd's I have ever seen. He may still be on the Journey when you sail, but I know they are transferring him to the Solstice soon to set up that dining room. He is the best Celebrity or Azamara has.

You will love the Penthouse. It is really roomy and has a wonderful balcony. We always had shade and sun at the same time so you could pick your spot. You will probably have a square table with 4 chairs for dining and 2 lounge chairs that have no cushions. I asked for cushions and the butler stole 2 chairs from the pool area so I would have cushions, then I had 4 lounge chairs. We had a party for 44 people in our cabin, it was wonderful!

The only negative and it didn't bother me, there is a lot of vibration in the aft end of the ship and the balcony has to be cleaned from soot every day. I spent plenty of time on that balcony, it was my favorite spot for a nap late in the afternoon and the vibration kind of rocked me to sleep at night.

Enjoy

Would you mind listing some of those extra perks?

Brian,

We had Jan as the Assistant Maître’d. He was great.

For our cruise in December, when we checked in to the ship we were asked (being in a Suite) to go to another line and select a specialty restaurant for the FIRST night. This didn't count towards the "free" nights. The purpose was later explained to us. The first night is confusing in the main restaurant and they wanted the suites to eat in the specialty restaurants to avoid the confusion.

Therefore, our first night in the main restaurant was about 8:00+ on the second night. Jan asked for our cabin number, we gave it, and he looked it up on his computer. It gave him the type of cabin and our name. We asked for a table for two and we were shown to a nice table for two, but he apologized for the quality. I "casually" asked him how to ensure I got a table for two every night. He suggested coming at 7:00. That is between the two rushed. He was great at seating us at a the stern window tables most nights. Not all. We certainly were very appreciative during the cruise, and complimented him to his superiors. We also gave him an extra tip at the end of the cruise.

My best advice is to ask your Assistant Maitre’d.

The cruise site says: “Suites
All suites come standard with all of the above, plus priority check-in and departure; priority luggage delivery at boarding; three nights of complimentary specialty dining, complimentary garment pressing (limit of two items per person upon embarkation); opportunity to book in-suite spa services; private portrait sitting; priority tender service; fragrant drawer liners upon request; silk-wrapped hangers; Hansgrohe® showerhead; welcome champagne; daily fruit basket; daily savories 4-6 PM; complimentary nonalcoholic specialty coffees (in-suite), sodas, and bottled water.”

I had an unlimited supply of diet coke J That made me very happy. The perk that isn’t mentioned is the two bottles of alcohol on the bar when you embark. I talked with other Penthouse passengers, and they also had some. The butler can substitute something that you like.

I can’s emphasize enough how great our butler (Antonio) was. My husband likes martinis. I’d get the setup from the bar and he’d use the vodka provided. I asked Antonio for pretzels and he brought a plate of soft pretzels. Ok, not what I had in mind, but he tried. Then I asked for some salty “bar” snacks, he brought something very nice from bar. He brought Ken espresso every morning, usually straight out to the deck. They are very accommodating.

You’ll have a great time.

Kathy

Anybody know why there is "confusion" in the main dining room the first night of the cruise. If it's truly open seating, why would that be?

There is confusion the first night because 1) the pax don't know "the drill" yet and 2) many are tired from their flights and try to eat at the same time. Later, as people settle in and their individual schedules spread out the lines disappear.

I have just found this thread again and thank you for all the info.

We leave for Athens in 12 days to board the Quest on the 16th and are in a Suite at the stern on Deck 6. On O we were on deck 7 which was great.

Will order my 2 bottles of Bacardi and just go with the flow.

Is the complementary 2 bottles of alcohol for the PS only, or do all suites get that perk too.
Thanks

Hi,

I cannot give you a percentage...The reason they have obstruction is due to the way the hull comes down, which shapes the veranda.

Hi Tnt !

I am 99% certain that Sky Suites do NOT get the same perk. At least, we didnt get it, when we were on Quest. I hope this helps a bit !

Kathy if our cruise is half as good as your review, I'm ready to sail Azamara exclusively..........what a great review.

We are on the Pacific Princess first and have an aft owners suite cabin 7114.......I'm betting it is the same type of cabin you had. Then we booked a sky suite on Azamara........

Thanks for posting the link to your review.

I really can't wait now!!
