I was wondering if HAL would allow you to book their transfers from their pre-cruise hotel to the ship even if you were not staying at the hotel. I will be in Rome pre-cruise and I just found out there is a pre-cruise hotel used by HAL.

That's a really good question that I've never seen asked before.
I'd recommend you ask your TA to check into this for you. Please let us know what you find out.

We did the eastern med cruise 4/29 with pre-cruise package- HAL used 3 hotels pre cruise that we know of- I was under the impression that to transfer from hotel to ship you had to be on HAL package, but could be wrong. Cost was $82 per person. You could also post to share a cab/car on your roll call- several people we met on our cruise did that. We used Stephano of Rome Cabs to get back to Rome post cruise- shared with another couple and did 2 stops.

This IS a good question, and you are smart to look into it - a private taxi from Rome to the port in Civitavechia can run you a pretty penny!

Yes, they DO allow it (I've arranged this for Clients numerous times), including this past May. Worldwide Shore Services is the company that does this for HAL - 1-800-355-3023. You will be instructed what time to arrive at the hotel. Be sure to emphasize - or have your TA do so - that you want transfers from hotel to pier (or vice versa), not airport to pier.

In May, HAL's pre-cruise hotel was the Parco dei Principi.

Bon Voyage.

Yes - it can be done.

When we were in Seattle and going to take a cruise out of Vancouver we stayed at HAL's hotel - Sheraton.

But there were other people who stayed at hotels of their own choosing and wanted to use HAL's transfer to get from Seattle to Vancouver. The only thing they had to do was get themselves to the Sheraton.

Not certain how you like to travel but...you can take a train to the port. It is actually the fastest way to get there. The cost is about $15. There are at least 2 stations in Rome (Termini and S Pietro)where you can catch the train. They run frequently. Just depends on how much luggage you have and how independent you are.

Thanks everyone. I am going to have my TA arrange it and if they can't will contact HAL directly. I did consider the train and that is my back up plan but the thought of carrying two suitcase and a carry on bag around doesn't sound to appealing.
