The new New York Waterfalls opened today in New York Harbor. They are a series of man made waterfalls which can be seen in the East River and will be able to be seen as the Eurodam passes near Lady Liberty. This is what they look like:

It's been about 5 years since I left the NY tri-state area. I am having a difficult time figuring out how one is going to see the falls under the BB, from NY Harbor. Am I getting senile?

Hammy, one of them is right near the Statue of Liberty and can be seen as you sail past her. It's free standing. Somewhere I have that picture too, but will have to find it. If not, I'll post it from the Eurodam.

You will certainly not be able to see the waterfalls pictured under the bridge in the East River from any ship sailing down the Hudson River out of NYC. Doubt that they can even be seen from the Red Hook pier in Brooklyn used by Cunard and Princess. But if there is indeed a free standing one somewhere near Lady Liberty, that you could see.:)

Great photos and very cool waterfalls, Carol! Did you take the ferry out to get those photos?

No, Sheila. The waterfalls opened today. We went to the South Street Sea Port and took a special Circle Line tour to see them. It was beautiful out on the water.

Lovely! That's what I meant by "ferry"...I just couldn't think of the name of the line. ;)

Carol, isn't that amazing? I've been watching this today on TV. They had a whole thing this morning on the Today Show about them.

While you can't see the waterfall under the Brooklyn Bridge while departing down the Hudson, it certainly would be a fun thing to do if one goes into New York a day or two early (before the cruise).

Great idea to post the pix! Thanks.:)
