hi guys,
I was wondering a couple of things after reading about the cabanas, hopefully someone can help.
where do you make the purchases for the cabana? Should you purchase this before your trip due to limited availabilty?
Also, what is included with the caban, are theyre different services for the cabana? Alos, are there any rainy, poor weather days that happen, would you be refunded, due to the weather
And lastly, are the cabanas still there after the past stroms?
Any help would be appreciated, or where i could find this info would be appreciated, thanks, CJ

Hey, we're going to be on the same cruise!
Yes you can purchase them ahead of time through HAL's ships services. Do a search for cabanas on this forum and you'll get plenty of info. I don't know about refunds. I would suggest booking one now since there aren't that many. (maybe 20-30?) IF you can get a refund if HMC is bypassed on our cruise. I have learned from this board not assume anything, or would assume you could get a refund in such an event. We are just getting the $9 clamshells and drink ticket.
I also doubt the cabanas are still there after the storms. But my guess is that it will cost less than $1000 to rebuild each one, and they're money makers, so I am guessing they will be available when we go next month.

cjmx50,
If the ship does not stop at HMC due to dangerous conditions for the tenders (or any othre reason), then you won't be charged. On the other hand if the ship stops there and you decide you don't want to go ashore because of any reason (including weather) then HAL will be more than happy to take your money for the unused cabana.:(

there are only these:
The locations of the cabanas, starting with the closest to the ship, is as follows:
Tan
Blue (canvas sides)
Turquoise
Orange
Light Blue (under construction)
Purple (canvas sides)
Pink
Green
Yellow
The Tan, Blue and Turquoise cabanas are the most convenient to the bathrooms. None of the cabanas are very remote, so getting to the food and bathroom areas wouldn't be much of a hike from any of them.
And thats if they are still there, they could have been taken down and reassembled too :) I hope :)

The easiest way booking them is online on HAL website under "Book Excursions". All you need is your booking number.
Also, remember that only one person of your party has to book the cabana, the rate is good for 4.
Hope this helps!

Or you can call ship services at 1-800-541-1576.
There are 2 packages - one with butler service and one without.
There are only 9 cabanas - doubt if any are left after hurricane Frances and have no idea how soon they will be rebuilt.
The only time you will get a refund is when the ship isn't able to drop anchor for whatever reason - too windy, etc.
But if it is a cloudy day - not windy - they will drop anchor and if you decide that you don't want to use the cabana, you are out of luck in getting your money back.
Remember that you are booking this ahead of your cruise and the charge goes onto your credit card - not your shipboard account.

thanks everyone for your info, but unfortuntely all the cabanas are unavailable. I am on a waitlist for all of them, thanks to the wonderful HAL (tanya) in the office. Thanks again, CJ
