DH & I have been to Nassau before (pre-kids). This time we'll have two kids in tow (ages 10 and 4). What do you recommend we do in Nassau? Are the excursions offered by DCL worth it? A rip off? Any favorite things to do in Nassau? (DH would PREFER not to spend the day shopping. :D )

Look at the Atlantis day pass tread here. Also there is an older tread here that tells about a beach at the Hilton you can use for $10 a person that is like a 10 minute walk from the ship and if you are willing to walk about 5 more minutes there is a public beach for no cost.
Hubby and daughter did the dophin encounter a few years ago when we were at Nassau-that runs about $85 or $90 a person but they felt it was well worth it. You can do the Atlantis-Comfort Inn thing for around $200 a family with access to the pool, water park and aquaraium.
Anyway there are several choices-I think even a day at the beach would be alot of fun if you need to budget.

The Atlantis is a great place to explore, particularly with kids.:D

Day passes at the British Colonial Hilton were $40 total for our family of 4. It was an easy walk from the pier, beach and pool were clean and lovely. It was very relaxing. No vendors on the beach. There's also a beach restaurant and bar.
We had a great day and will do this again next time in Nassau. And it's cheaper and less crowded than Atlantis. So if you want a beach day,it's a good choice.

If the kids are into pirates, you might try the Pirate Musuem. Cute walk thru dioramas, and good history, a snack bar and of course, a gift shop. Arg!!!

The kids might enjoy a carriage ride. There are plenty of carriages within walking distance of the ship, and you can barter on price because they will all be competing for your business. They take you around town and tell you about some of the rights.
Personally, I prefer to stay on board and pretend it's a day at sea. It's a great time to take advantage of the less-crowded pools.
