I was having difficulty getting into the online check-in on the Holland America website, so I called for help. I have no idea how, but immediately it came up even though the page just minutes before said it had no record of my reservation. I had read previously on another thread that if you weren't leaving by air you couldn't do the online check-in. Well, I am not leaving by air since I live south of Seattle and will be traveling by car to and from the ship. I was able to go in and complete it with no difficulty. I asked about the credit card issue and she said if you aren't going to register the credit card you can't do the online check-in, you have to do it all at check-in at the dock. She also told me that since we weren't using air travel we should be getting our documents about 60 days before the cruise. Airfare changes are what cause them to be sent out only 30 days before. I am very happy to be checked in! Now I just have to wait until Sept 12 to go.

I had read previously on another thread that if you weren't leaving by air you couldn't do the online check-in.That was bad info. We've driven to/from ports and had no problem doing online check-in.

We book our our own air and do not fly in or leave on the same dates as the cruise.

Thus I have aleways left that section blank and never had any problems.

We have used online check-in on our last two cruises and we drive to the port. If you are not flying out after the cruise you have to provide the name and address of where you will be spending the first night. On both occasions I have had a confirmed hotel reservation to give them and that was enough.

Have used it since it was available. Also book excursions on line before the cruise.
