DH and I have been talking for several months that we would like to take the Canada /New England Cruise on the Maasdam for next July. After doing lots of homework on pricing and checking on flights using my United Miles I am within minutes of booking it with my local TA She is $179 higher than the lowest internet price. Since she does give me good service and was able to get a shipboard credit of $50 per person I will book with her. I requested a particular cabin so she was calling HAL and was going to call me back.
Would you say that the HAL Cruise BUG has bit us Good?
Plus in April next year I am planning to take a good friend that just went thru a terrible divorce on a mini 3 day cruise on RCL.

We have quite a few cruises planned.
Leave in October for 21 days on the Statendam.
January - back-to-back cruises on the Westerdam.
Feb/Mar - back-to-back cruises on the Volendam.
May - back-to-back cruises on the Zuiderdam.
November - Veendam.
Book as many as you think you can take.

Lisa.....Sounds like a wonderful plan to me!!!
We have a few cruises booked as well:
Zuiderdam October 2
Veendam January 3
Maasdam June 11
Maasdam June 18
And......we are considering another :)
The most we ever have had booked at one time was 6 (but that included two sets of b-to-b's).
Of course, DH is not yet retired so we only have limited time to cruise :)

Nope - no one crazy here - we have 5 reserved !
Oct. 31 - 13 days - Montreal to Fll
Feb. 12 - 7 days - W. Carib (40th anniv.)
Oct. '05 - Transatlantic to Southampton, Eng.
Oct. '05 - Southampton to Rome (incl. Egypt)
Nov. '05 - Rome to Ft. Laud
Sadly, none of the above are HAL ships- they did not have the itineraries.
But with 80 days so far on HAL, we'll be back someday soon - just send me some e-mails with last minute bargains-ready to go !

KK and Sail, Gee you made me feel a lot better:p I get an additional week of vacation starting next year with having 10 years at this car dealership. I figured we might as well cruise while we have good health and can afford it. Now our son won't be that thrill since that is just another week he has to come and take care of our little zoo.
We would of never thought of doing this cruise till after we went to Alaska and found that cruising can be fun even if it is not tropical. One down fall to this cruise is that it is very port intensive but it is to areas neither Tom or I have ever been to.

I just got confirmation from our TA she has us booked in cabin #137 for the July 9th Maasdam. Can anyone tell me about this cabin and location? We have only had BA catagories on the Zuriderdam and the Oosterdam. Are these cabins bigger than the Vista Class? Who knows after we come back from having our S on the Ryndam we might bite the bullet. We will have a SS on the Westerdam then another S on the Oosterdam for Oct.05

No you're not nuts having 4 cruises booked - we have 4 and are probably going to book the 5th when we are on the Westerdam for Christmas. Three weeks after returning home from that cruise we will be on the Volendam, then Volendam again in April 2005, & Alaska in August and will book Veendam in October when we are on the ship.
Lots of cruises to look forward to. :D

We almost booked the June 11 and June 18 back-to-back cruises on the Maasdam for Canada/New England - would have celebrated our anniversary on the week of the 18th cruise. But since the ports were identical going and coming from Montreal we decided against it.
That's why we booked the Zuiderdam in May for back-to-backs - DH's birthday then.

I should be so nuts !!!!!!!!!! *LOL*
I will tell you after looking into all the sugestions everyone has been giving me lately for a honeymoon cruise. they all look so wonderful.
There are about three of them we are seriously considering , and hopefully will do within the next year or two

It looks to me that 137 is about mid-ship. And if I'm not mistaken (and I very well could be) the verandah rooms on the S ships are larger than their counterparts on the Vista ships.
BTW, we have two cruises booked, but their only the third and fourth cruises of my life (and DW's 2nd and 3rd). If it were up to me I'd book another, but DW has already made many vacation suggestions, and none of them involve water.:(
Actually, we're talking about heading out west and doing some sightseeing next year, maybe the Grand Canyon.
I'm rambling. To answer your question, no, you're not nuts (or I'd like to be as nuts as your).:D

Laffnvegas,
Sounds like you are doing a "good thing!"
Volendam--12/26/04
Mercury--03/20/05
Century--06/02/05 (pending; Celebrity needs to get the head out of their #$%
on this pricing issue)
Zuiderdam--06/11/05 (BtoB with the Century)
Enjoy!

You are not nuts! We only have two:
11/3/04 - Noordam
3/20/05 - Volendam
But are looking at a couple others... the Mariner magazine gave us much to think about! :)
We are for sure looking at booking the maiden voyage of the new Noordam in 2006.

We did debate about it (for about 30 seconds :D ) because of the repeating ports. But, we love Montreal and will get to spend the whole of turnaround day there and then two visits to Quebec won us over.
Besides......we have a very good friend who is scheduled to be aboard and we almost don't care about the ports very much at all. For us, most of the time, the ship is our destination.
I REALLY wish you had booked those cruises. I would have been so happy to meet/cruise with you.
We did two sets of b-to-b on Zuiderdam last year and loved every minute aboard. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

I am told there is a huge statue of the Virgin Mary someplace in the St. Lawrence River. On of the posters once called the statue "Our Lady of the Midnight Buffet." Think of that when you go by it. By the way, I hope you have great weather and I would rather see you there than spending these days in the Caribbean dodging hurricanes. It has been a very active season.

I think it perfectly rational to have multiple bookings.
We have three booked at the moment, and we are looking at a couple of others as possible bookings.
Unfortunately, we probably will have to cancel one booked for Mar 05, as it looks like we will be moving into a new home just then.

It's on a hill in the Saguenay River which runs upstream from the St. Lawrence. As the ship comes down the St. Lawrence, it goes partway up the Saguenay. The time we were there someone had draped a large blue towel over the statue's shoulder and we thought maybe it was a HAL towel. :D
I tried finding a pix of it, but no luck.

Here (http://jupiter.rtsq.qc.ca:8890/monumentsetoeuvresdart)'s a picture of Notre Dame de Saguenay with the "towel" (actually a cape). Note that the page is in French....

On two separate cruises we saw that statue (undraped at the time), and it was really quite beautiful, with a touching story to go with it about its origin, and the ship's Public Adress system playing Ave Maria.
