Remember when you used to be able to see who else was on CC when you were on? The names used to be posted at the bottom of the page. Does anyone know why they no longer do this?

I'm not an old timer, but you can now see who's on by the green light next to the name on any post. Not quite as convenient, maybe ... you have to go checking around to see.
Does anyone know why they no longer do this?My guess would be that there's too many names now. CC today has 362,145 on the rolls, and has been gaining about 200 per day for the past 6 months. Just look at the size of the "today's birthdays" list at the bottom of the main page!!

A lot of members and someone mentioned that when they changed servers one time quite a few years ago, that feature was discontinued.

Maybe Host Walt will see this thread and snwer for us.

I remember when we had that feature at the bottom for each section.

Mine always has a red light as I picked the "do not show when I am on line" option. This was because I got into some wierd back and forth thing with a guy on the Carnival board a few years back and he said something along the lines of "and you have nothing better to do than be on CC when you should be taking care of your family!" OUCH! That stung! So from now on.... undercover!

I rememeber when the boards used to show who was online at the bottom of the page. I also remember a lot of problems logging in, white 'screens of death', and general sluggishness during that time! Don't know if the two were related...

Lots of message boards rely upon the same technology platofrm. Over time, most have disabled many of the user functions to improve performance.

Given this is not a paid for subscription service, we get what they can afford to give us.
