I've been on a number of Princess ships and on Oosterdam's sister, Zuiderdam, four cruises. But....Not on Oosterdam. :)

Sail7Seas - How does HAL compare to Princess?? Food wise especially - I loved the food on Oosterdam.

Thanks!

Would like same info. Have cruised Princess but not HAL. For those who have cruised on the newer ships of both, how do they compare? Thinking of a cruise for the whole family on Oosterdam but wondering if the clientele on that ship would be too old for teens and their parents. We have all loved Princess and RCI.

I have cruised on all the Princess ships and most of Hal and can answer with the utmost confidence--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------DEPENDS ON WHAT DAY IT IS!!!!!-----------
Seriously, the Island and Coral we thought were HORRIBLE and will never do again---their mast market standard is even below the Z--with that said--I have found that the food on Hal is a LITTLE better(again depending on the ship) and the overall atmosphere is a somewhat more formal---the older ships of Princess i.e. Dawn,Regal, etc. seemed to have slipped in recent years---overall,food and service is better on Hal-shows and entertainment on Princess--all IMHO

We've been on three Celebrity ships and five HAL. We prefer HAL currently, although we used to think Celebrity food was better. But after our more recent HAL cruises, on all three Vista Class ships and the Prinsendam, we have been generally happy with the food and the range of selections.

We have been on other lines also, but not Princess. Many Princess ships seem to be larger than HAL ships. We prefer the ambience of HAL. If we abandoned HAL for some reason we'd probably try Radisson or, perhaps, return to Celebrity.
