Hi,:) I am home, just too tired to post a full review at this point........I will post tomorrow. But I will do something short now.
I will try to be objective....but as most of you know, my sailing experience is on Celebrity. And I will be honest, I made plenty of comparisons throughout the week.
Food is very subjective......I felt like the portions were very small...(vegetables in the "California Nuveau" style)...you know, teeney veggies with a lump of rice for example.
The ship is BIG and Very BRIGHT....I prefer something a bit smaller and more toned down.
The Promanade was FABULUOUS:D .......that was one thing I gave high marks....I love sitting on a chaise lounge and reading and sleeping, sleeping and reading...you get the idea...lots of relaxtion after the stress of the week before.
Entertainment~FABULOUS:D ......I thought Joel Mason was FANTASTIC....and there was a magician and a juggler....but he was much more than a "typical juggler". They also had a comedian but I cannot recall his name...I saw one show of his.....it was late and it was "Adult Comedy"...he was very good.
Now, I am not going into everything else tonite...but the service definitely lacked (In my opinion).......I had a some specific things that happened throughout the week....and after filling out my comment card IN FULL....(with additional stationary)I spoke with the Hotel Manager in person.
And I am not even sure he heeded anything I said...but I said what I had to say.
They might have been small things to some folks.....but to me, as an accumulation over the week, it definitely detracted things for me.
I was told by more than a few people to try another HAL ship in the S class and maybe I would enjoy my experience more.
I know, I was on a nice ship for a week...and I met some fantastic people from Cruise Critic.:) .......hi Beckey, Pete, Ruthann, Trey, I know I am missing others......they helped make my week really nice.
Again, I will go into more details tomorrow and as I think of things...but I am really tired. And I feel like I am still moving as I am sitting here.........

Hey, Lois! Welcome home! Looking forward to reading your review. From what you've said, it sounds like some of the warnings I've heard about the Vista class ships (and the Zuiderdam in particular) have been borne out by your experience. I'll find out for my self about Vistas in Feb 2005. :)
Again, welcome home. I leave in one week for three weeks on the Zaandam ... the other (and a little older) "Z" ship. :D

I am glad you enjoyed part of it. I know somethings are subjective. Was there any food you liked/disliked more then others. Did you try the Alternative Dining? What excursions did you do/like/dislike?
I like to rest too. So I will bring a nice murder mystery.

Welcome home Lois.
Glad you had some fun on your cruise.
Do try one of HAL's smaller ships.
