I am sure I have read on this website if your TA offers your cruise cheaper are they likely to reimburse you the difference? our cruise is now offered at a considerable discount, in the UK they would just say "Tough" is it different in the US? Help.

It depends if you have reached final payment or not. If you have paid for the whole cruise then the answer is going to be no. If before final payment then you can cancel and rebook at lower rate or talk to your TA. Be careful if you cancel there may be fees involved that negate what you are doing. Also how full is the ship.

Having said the above, it could also be for new bookings only or a regional special. Sometimes you can get some cabin credit or an up grade if you talk to your TA.

There have been a couple of occasions when the price of our cruise dropped 10% after final payment. We got the lower price and the difference was credited to our credit card.

HAL's policy is - if the price drops by at least 10%, they will give you the lower price unless you have a special booking promo.

We were fortunate last year to have our Thanksgiving cruise drop more than 10% after final payment. We contacted our online booking agency via email, they contacted HAL, and we were told to expect a credit on our credit card. :) It was very quick and simple with no hassles.

We also got are getting a credit back because the price dropped. It might depend on your TA but we booked thru CVC and the final payment was due at booking since the cruise was so close, but 3 days later, it went down. I asked for an adjustment and got it. So, even if you have made final payment, I'd ask. You won't get it if you dont' ask. Good luck

I found the following:

"Holland America Line Announces 4th Annual Seven Continents Celebration for 2005 Sailings
Wednesday September 15, 3:52 pm ET

SEATTLE, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Holland America Line recently announced its 4th annual Seven Continents Celebration. The promotion, which runs through Nov. 30, 2004, celebrates the fact that Holland America Line is the industry leader in worldwide deployment. With nearly 500 cruises to all seven continents, guests can save up to $1,000 per person off already low Early Savings or Mariner Savings rates on 2005 sailings."

I had booked the 2005 62 day Pacific Cruise and asked my TA to check on the promotion. She contacted HAL and you guessed it. HAL is not giving the discount on all 2005 sailings. I suppose "up to $1000" means everything between $0 to $1000.

Not always true. As other's have said - it's up to your TA if it's after final booking. I've always recieved the difference after final payment if the cruise price drops.
