I know that Disney promotes education, and rewards great teachers. What we can't do is sail peak times (the times when teachers are off in the school year) because of the price. It would be wonderful if we could sail off season, but it is just not posible during the teaching year.
So how about it DCL... a special week when teachers might be able to afford a cruise?
PLease?

I think that would be a great idea. My son missed a week of Kindergarten last year for our 7 night Magic cruise but his Teacher was happy we made a story about our cruise and the different places we visited etc. I love DCL and WDW but I have learned that DCL is not as "into" discounts as other major cruiselines. For example, DCL has GREAT rates for active duty military and their families during off season or last minute BUT the active duty military member has to sail with you. To some of you non military you may think that is a no brainer but then remember our husbands and wives are at the whim of their active duty. You can schedule a cruise and then as we have and everyone is looking forward to it and then wham my husband is deployed again thus the cruise is cancelled because A. my husband can not go and is going back to Iraq and B. they will not let me take our little boys and use the discount which makes it unaffordable. They do not seem to understand that for the families and children in particular of the deployed service member to a was every day is like a year. Children need something to look forward to and have fun and try and be children and not worry about the war and their Mommy or Daddy, they just need to be children. A 7 month deployment to Iraq is a lifetime to a 3 and 6 year old and if you can give them something to do, a distraction in between it helps. We can not afford DCL without the discounts.
BUT Carnival does allow the spouse of active duty military to sail and utilize the discounts. The seem to get it.
Also, WDW does allow a active duty military spouse to buy tickets and book SOG or overflow rates based on rank.
I know Carnival and Sea World and Busch Gardens have been great to us, even WDW is great but it seems DCL is such a high ticket item they prefer profit over anything else.
For those of you who think I am complaining. I am not, just understand most of us are married to career military men and women who have 4 year and master degrees yet get paid a minimum of what someone doing the same job in the civilan world is paid. For our families these discounts are the only ways we can do some of the same things everyone else does.
The same thing could probably be said about teachers. The are one of our greatest assets and have my respect yet they are paid so little and they are teaching our children on bugets and buying supplies out of their limited salaries.......off my soap box.
BTW, at WDW I do believe they have discounts for Teachers or they did at the Dolphin and Swan. It would not hurt to contact DCL or WDW and try. Good luck :)
