Key West Summer 2009

My husband and I want to drive down to Key West
for our 25th anniversary from June 29 to July 3rd
next summer. Any ideas as to where we can stay???
Reasonable but nice and near the main drag....

It would be perfect for an anniversary! We've been there twice and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. It is within walking distance to everything and very quaint. Breakfast in the garden, nice pool, etc. Check out their web site.

I have stayed at the Southernmost Hotel and would recomend it. It is at the southern end of Duval so it is more quiet and yet only a 5-10 minute walk up to Mallory Square. In addition it is only a short walk over to the beach, Souternmost Point or the Butterfly house. The have multiple hotels under the same ownership. I stayed at the Mermaid and the Alligator. Was a short walk to Duval, short walk to great restaurants but very quiet, very comfortable, very highly recommended.

Expect higher than usual prices in Key West.. Unfortunately, there are no nice places to stay at a deeply discounted rate. It's just the territory.

If you want to be on or near Duval, look into the La Concha.

If you don't mind taking a taxi or driving downtown, the Doubletree Grand Key Resort (3.5 miles from Duval) usually offers decent prices.

Yes, I know it's not cheap. But, to us, it is worth every penny. If that isn't what you'd like, there are plenty of options out there. Key West has so many beautiful places.
