OK, this is a little complicated. I'm booked on the Prinsendam "Spirit of Discovery" cruise from 10/2 - 10/30, i.e., it was booked as a single cruise. However, it's also being sold as two separate cruises, 10/2 - 16 and 10/16 - 30 with passengers disembarking and embarking in Civitavecchia, sailing at 5PM.

My questions are:

1. Will we be issued one cruise card for the cruise or will we have to re-check in on 10/16?

2. Will we be allowed to leave the ship as soon as it docks or will we have to wait for all passengers from the 10/2-16 leg disembark first?

I've booked a private tour of Rome for the day and I want to make sure that we'll be able to leave the ship as soon as it docks; I'm a little nervous about being able to see a lot before having to head back to the ship. It's going to have to be pretty much a 1/2 day tour. There are no ship's tours available other than airport transfers.

For those of you experienced with a cruise like this, I'd appreciate your recommendations.

Hi,
on the Westerdam last summer we had one card for the whole 20 days. We were able to get off on changeover day when we were ready to go out.

hope that helps,
Teresa

We took a 26-nite “Collector’s Voyage” on the Prinsendam in May/June which was also sold as 2 separate cruises. We were issued a single ID card for the entire trip when we initially embarked. On transition day when the first segment ended & the second segment began, we were able to leave the ship as/when we wished. We considered it a regular port day & did our own independent touring. When we returned to the ship, we boarded using our original ID cards. We didn’t have to go thru any additional check-in or passport control. I understand that these requirements may vary according to local port authorities so your experience may be different. But not to worry, HAL will host a reception beforehand & explain everything to you. This was our second b2b cruise in Europe with HAL & both went seamlessly.
