Maybee a curious/snobish question but I try with that one: Did they serve Kobe beef at one of the DR on Noordam.?
If not: what did they take like quality / cut / origin of meat for a Filet Mignon for exemple.

Kobe beef is not served on HAL. To the best of my knowlesge it is not served on any cruise line. I think it runs about $75-100 a pound, dependent uon where purchased in the U.S.
"Sterling beef" is what is served in the surcharge restuarant, Pinnacle Grill.

The USDA defines a number of categories for beef with specific measurable standards that must be met to meet the grade, prime, choice, etc.
The food industry decided to define a category called "sterling" that is choice according to the USDA standards.
The standards for meeting "sterling" are supposed to be the upper end of the "choice". This is a food industry convention, not something that is measured or measurable by an oversight agency.
Having said that, I have yet to meet a piece of beef on a HAL cruise that was anything less than scrumptious.

If you wish for that type quality, you certainly understand you need to pay for it.
Perhaps if you sail Silversea and make a special request, you may have it served to you there.
I doubt most of us want to pay the sort of prices the fares would have to be for Kobe steak. I know I don't want that. I don't much care about steak of any quality though...... so I'm the wrong one to comment, I guess. :)
I much rather a wonderful piece of fish.

Ta answer ya qwestion, no. But now I gotta axe yore indulgence. Befor I met Big Belly Bob, I had no idear that thar was sumthing nown as fine dining. BBB taught me to use canned offerings to create goremet dinners. With what is available today, there's a whole world of delectable edibles that can be had from a can, a package, a bit of rice, noodles or instant taters, and a few strategically selected herbies. Of course, salt is a requisite, it seems that all that packaged stuff underdoes the salt. I figger it's part of the "health conscious movement". Depending on the dish, cheese is a good adder.
Anyhoo, we only use sterling for special occasions, like the coronation of the queen. Otherwise, we use stainless, which isn't but that's what they call it.

If you are taking a cruise that costs you around $100 per day, do you think they would be serving you a steak that costs around $100 per pound?

You should not have let it out that there are a lot of us that hide that delicacy in our luggage to smuggle it on board the ship

I had something called Waygu(Wagyu) beef in Australia. Didn't taste any better than beef here.

As you can see we have cruised only Princess. But we are looking at HAL and so I randomly browse HAL posts to get a general idea for comparing it to Princess. BTW, sail7seas, I have read your posts on the "Ask a Cruise Question" and love your posts. Michael Mina is also in one of major Casinos in Las Vegas. /Sultan

We sailed on Azamara's Quest last winter. They had Kobe beef on the menu in their specialty steak house restaurant. Not an extra charge, either. ---- Penny

Thank you, Sultan. What a nice thing to say.
Hope you try a HAL cruise and especially hope if you do that you have a great time. What's that old line?? Try it, you'll like it. :D
