Oosterdam-Alaskan Cruise Formal Nights

We're a group of 5 cruising on the Oosterdam to Alaska....July 9th-July 16th of 2005. I am trying to organize a surprise 50th birthday dinner at the Odyssey Restaurant on one of the formal nights. The birthday is July 10th which is our second night cruising. We're hoping that one of the formal nights will fall on the second night of the cruise. Does anyone know what nights are formal and what event take place on that night. Thanks in advance for your replies.

We were on the Oosterdam this past May to Alaska. The first night out which was Saturday was casual, Sunday 2nd night was first Formal night. Thursday was the second Formal night. Hope this helps. Formal night on the Alaska cruise brought out all kinds of attire from Tuxes to blue jeans:confused: The second Formal night most did dress up more.

What a wonderful birthday surprise! The Odyssey is the perfect spot for an intimate dinnerparty and the bar at the entrance is a great place for your guests to assemble for cocktails before being seated!

Make those reservations for Sunday the 10th (first formal night) in advance of sailing - those tables tend to book quickly. You can make your reservations by calling HAL Shipservices at the 800-number included in your documents.

I would also suggest confirming your reservation w/ the Odyssey Maitre'd, particularly if you do not see a Pinnacle reservation card in your stateroom when you board.
