We are about ready to lock in a trip on the Veendam for the Spring of '09. We have cruised on her before and our stateroom was on the main deck but mid-ship.
The room we have locked in right now is on the port aft section of main deck. Anyone have any experience with this section of the ship. Noise level etc?

Don't know specifically about the Veendam aft cabins but once we were on the Volendam in an aft main deck cabin.(This cabin actually had its window at the back of the ship) Every morning when we would go into port we would be wakened by the noise of the lines being winched out. I would choose that cabin again only if there were nothing left on the ship and even then I would think twice about it.

It is room 678, so it is about 6 rooms forward then where your room was. Hopefully we won't have the noise you did.

You will be just fine. We prefer the cabins on the main deck aft, and have been in your neighborhood on several cruises. We haven't heard any machinery at all. And when I get up in the morning, it is right up the elevator to the Lido for coffee while the bride powders her nose.
