First time cruising to cooler area, curious what the temp is like on board. Do they have the heat on?

We didn't notice the indoor temperature at all on our 5/27 to 6/4 cruise on the Mariner, which probably means it was OK. Anyway, the temperature was never all that cold: probably a high in the upper 70s during our 8 days, low in the low 50s at night. Most of the time, the outdoor temperature was in the 62 to 72 degree range..

Sounds perfect! We're going on the first cruise of the season next year, and I'm looking forward to cool, comfortable temperatures.

a suggestion: pack a neutral shawl/pashmina. I have found that what one person thinks is OK can be chilly ot another.

We happened to have weather that wasn't below 50 (except in Anchorage, where it was 40 and windy the morning we left). You have to be prepared for anything from sun to rain, from calm to windy, and from 40 to more than 80 degrees. Weather in Alaska is unpredictable, and even 10 day forecasts aren't much use.

Agreed, KnitterCA - on board the Mariner right now. Temps are ranging high 50s to 60s. Rough seas form Seward to Tracy Arm (found out I DO get seasick ). The warmest weather was Anchorage - low 70s and Sitka, where we hit the first sunny day in a month. All the cab drivers, guides and native Alaskans are telling us the is the "year without the summer", lots of fog and rain, and the coolest it's been in a while. Don't forget rain gear! Juneau had many heli and plane tours cancelled - some on the ship even had to spend the night on a glacier, because the weather was too bad to fly off! Tracy Arm was beautiful though - got to see both North and South Sawyer, with lots of calving! There have been lots of high points to balance out the bad weather though.
