Drifting away with Fred Olsen
7/8/2008
=============================================
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has booked The Drifters
– the popular group who have notched up 50 hit records and sold 214m singles and 114m albums worldwide -
for a 13-night Canary Islands cruise on board Balmoral, departing Dover on January 4.
The Drifters have been in existence since 1953,
founded by ex-Dominoes singer Clyde McPhatter and Ahmet Ertegun, who also started Atlantic Records.
Despite a constantly changing line-up
the band has retained its distinctive sound and enjoyed a series of hit records over the years.
Many of their songs will be familiar to Fred. Olsen’s baby boomer audience
– classics such as Come on Over to My Place, Saturday Night at the Movies and Under the Boardwalk.
The cruise visits Lisbon, then the islands of Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Tenerife and la Gomera in the Canaries,
with Madeira the last port before journey’s end in Dover.
Prices currently start from £897 per person.
