We are sailing on the Zuiderdam next week and were wondering what the policy is on irons. I could not find anything in my paperwork that actually said, NO IRONS. If irons are not allowed, does anyone know how much it would cost to have 4 or 5 button down shirts ironed? Thanks for the help!:)

NO IRONS ALLOWED ON ANY SHIP IN THE CABINS!

Fire safety.

Don't know how much it costs to have a shirt pressed.

Have you ever considered a steamer?

I pack DH's shirts on hangers and put each in a dry cleaner bag. Even if I fold each in half to place in the suitcase, they remain fine and do not require pressing. I am sure the sleeves are neatly folded across the front of the shirt and they come out of the bag unwrinkled. (But I do bring a steamer in case I want it for other things......)

Laundry
For your convenience, we offer full laundry and dry cleaning service. You will find laundry bags and price lists in your closet. Self-service laundromats are situated in various locations on board, except the ms Zuiderdam, ms Westerdam and ms Oosterdam. The facility consists of washers, dryers, irons and ironing boards. There is a charge for the use of washers & dryers. For safety reasons, we ask you to refrain from ironing clothes in your stateroom.

We're sailing on the Westerdam, which apparently lacks a self-serve laundry/ironing room, in a few weeks, and it's a 12-day cruise--so we were wondering about laundry issues, too...Does anyone have, or know where I might find, a general price list for the laundry services? I'm going to be lucky if I can fit all my clothes and shoes, let alone a steamer, in my luggage :) This is our first cruise, so we're a bit clueless about stuff like this, but very excited!

Sorry, don't have a laundry list.

But we do go on longer cruises and usually only have to send items out once to be washed and/or cleaned.

We each take a large suitcase and a medium size suitcase.

We did back-to-back cruises on the Oosterdam (14 days) last year and only sent husband's tuxedo shirts, dress shirts, and sport shirts our once in all that time. Packed enugh of everything else to last the entire cruise as well as 3 day pre-cruise and 1 day post-cruise.

Thanks, KrazyKruisers! That's reassuring (and funny! I guess I was asking for a "laundry list" :) ).

Your best bet is the "unlimited" service (approx. $140 for a 12 day, I think). You'd really only need 4 or 5 days worth of 'changes' (or, more likely, fewer items but a broader range of styles) and just send your dirty laundry off each morning. I miss that even more than the dining room service!
