Hello Everyone, I don't understand this room. I booked an FF Gurar, room with window no blockage. This is at the end of the ship called partial sea view. Some kind of Screens on right side. i an see out straight ahead and to the left but not to the right. If so why would all DD show up has partial. Is my TA says this is an upgrade??? FF is lower but has full view. Or maybe I just don't understand. Cannot go back to FF they are all full. I would appreciate some help. Thanks

FF to DD is a good upgrade. DD 415 is on the Lower Promenade Deck - the obstruction is across the outside, wrap-around deck; the cabin is just steps from outside access. My habit is to reserve the least expensive outside, then hope to get lucky enough to be upgraded to a Lower Prom deck cabin, obstructed view or not, so I'd consider you to have done well.

When they do upgrades, HAL goes by the ascending list of cabin categories ... and DD is above FF. Thus, what you received is considered an upgrade.

True, DDs have partial obstruction. But higher decks are considered more valuable than lower decks, so DD is higher priced.

This is a good example, IMO, of a TA not explaining all the what-if's to a customer ... that the cabin assignment possibilities for an FF include what some might consider less desirable cabins.

We had this cabin on the Veedam and loved the location, just steps down a nearly private hallway to the outside deck. Very convenient and quite private, as you share the hallway with only a few cabins: no one else seems to know there is a door back there.
The only noise we found was during the Baked Alaska parade when it sounded as if there was a herd of elephants above in the Dining Room (for about 5 minutes).
The view is quite obstructed, actually, as the bottom half is solid, but you can see well enough at a distance through the top half.
Hope you will report back about how things worked out for you with this cabin.

Thank You for your responses, I feel better
CP556 your right, lesson learned that FF you could end of with a blocked view
I am not going to let this spoil my trip. I am disabled and am in the room alot that was the only reason I am disappointed. Other wise, I' m going on vacation......
CoconutFish so glad you replied about that outside deck so close. I can bundle up at won't have to walk far. This is a big plus.
I love Cruise Critic people.
