We're planning to book the Westeram on 10/19, with a VF guarantee. (I'm ok if we actually get a VF, any balcony will do. :) ) I do have one question: I noticed that some of the balcony cabins in many different categories have only a shower. In those cabins, are the bathrooms much smaller? Or is it simply just a large shower stall without a bathtub?

Thanks!!

Sorry no-one has answered this yet, but I'll give you what I know. I've been in VA,VB, and VD, and have always had a tub/shower combo. I really can't speak to the VF, but might be able to in December. We're booked in a VF GUAR. Like you, hoping for an improvement, but will be OK with VF. Happy sailing!

The bathroom should be about the same size. There are showers in some VB, VC, VD & VF cabins. Why they did this is a mystery. The VE's appear to all be with tub and shower.

Perhaps it was done so that people who can't climb in/out of a tub can book something other than an inside cabin?

That's always been a consideration on the S- and R-classes. On those ships, if you can't climb over the (high) side of the tub, then you're restricted in your cabin choices. When the Vistas came along there was a big sigh of relief from a lot of people.

Your probably right, I never thought about that. I assumed it was some anomoly in the plumbing system. My wife likes a tub so we always book an outside on the S & R class ships. Now that I look at the Amsterdam it has almost every cabin class with some showers.
