This track shows Hurricane Jeanne passing directly over Gorda Cay, known to us as Castaway Cay. The eye will be closest at about 1400 hrs on Saturday.
I imagine that everyone will be evacuated on one of the ships by then. Let's hope for minimum damage and that everyone will be safe.

Thanks for the info. I hope everyone is safe. We'll be there in Feb- should be back to normal by then.

You should be fine for Feb. In the interim, please pray for those people.

Yes we could barely tell Frances had been there. We were there Sept.22.

When I saw on the weather channel that Abaco was being hit yesterday (SAt. Sept. 25) I figured Castaway got it-many of the people who worked on Castaway that were not Disney employees were from Abaco-they said it was an 8 mile boat ride for them to come to work on the island.

Really as far as buildings on the island there were the huts where the soveniors were and then the bathrooms were like made of cement blocks I think with a straw roof like the huts so it would not be a whole lot of repairs-more cleaning up the debri. I think a week after Frances the cruiseships were back so if your cruise is in Feb. you should have no problem.

We had our picture made under a sign that said "Frances was here." I guess they will have to add another sign that says "Jeanne was here."

I'm surprised that there isn't a sign "Floyd was Here". Floyd did some serious damage when he blew through.

The wharf was so damaged that the ships couldn't call there for months. There was a lot of damage to the infrastructure also and a lot of the beach disappeared. This was the first time that the ships called at Key West and Cozumel.

The Wonder picked up people from Castaway Cay. We were aboard the Magic which could not make the call and headed straight into port on Friday night September 24 for an early end to our 7 day cruise. The important thing was that everyone was safe. All passengers were taken from the ship to accommodations at WDW as on Disney could do, provided breakfast the next morning and transported to the airport and safely home. It was an unbelievable process the worked like "Disney Magic" moving 2400 people from ship to shore in record time so smoothly. No other cruise line could pull this off.

Well i read an article here at cruisecritic that Disney ships have now returned to Castaway Key. the only line that is not doing their private island is Princess.

So cruiselovin- unless there is another hurricane in the next couple of weeks-you and you daughter should be able to do that bannana boat ride.

Yes, I saw that too! We are getting excited. Let's keep our fingers crossed for no more hurricanes, for EVERYONE's sake!

Any other tips you can think of, please pass them along...

We were on the Magic last week and visited Castaway Cay on Friday. Had about half a day of bad weather but the island seems to be springing back from previous storms and everything was fine. Our first Disney cruise and we enjoyed it tremendously. Would have liked more time/better weather on CC but that's no one's fault.
