I would like to hear from anyone who parasailed at Half Moon Cay - did you enjoy the experience, how long did it last and do you remember the cost? DH would like to try it - I told him I thought actual in air time was not very long. Thanks in advance for your reponses.

Half Moon Cay was the first place I ever parasailed, its spectacular. I believe you are up there a total of 5 minutes. I would highly recommend it, I absolutely love it and always try to parasail when at Half Moon Cay.

I am not 100% sure of the price now, but I think last time I was there, it was $69.

DO IT, YOU'LL LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!

DH and I tried this about 2 yr. ago. The price and time in the previous post sound right to me. I loved it! DH thought it too calm. I thought it was as much fun to watch the others take their turn as it was for me to take mine.

You won't know unless you try it! Half Moon Cay offers so many great activities. It's always one of my most favorite ports. Wish my upcoming TA had it on the itinerary!!!!

I did the parasailing this past January. It was too short a ride to suit me, but it was very enjoyable - and effortless. None of us got wet, as we departed and returned to the boat via a rope on an automatic reel. My only disappointment was that I had hoped we would go all around HMC. Instead we just sailed around the bay.

We went parasailing back in May of 2003. I can't believe it has been that long. I agree with doone who stated it was spectacular!!! The view is incredible and if you don't mind feeling like a bird, it is great!!!! My wife loved it - I found out that I don't particularly like heights - but I still had a good time. You neverknow until you try! I would "highly" recommend it"

Cheers,

Denny & Karen ;) :p

Well worth the expense. Beautiful view of the island

The fisahing is also good. Lot of Barricuda and they do all the work

By all means go parasailing. Just do it as double and you should have twice the time up in the air. My friend and I did it as singles and afterward we wished we had done it as a double. I was amazed at how quiet it was. You could actually hear people on the shore talking. They asked us if we wanted to go into the water and we said sure....so we got a little wet....

DH would like to try it - I told him I thought actual in air time was not very long. Thanks in advance for your reponses.I've done it two or three times now. It's wonderful. They take a load of people out every hour. Your shore excursion ticket will tel you what time you are scheduled. There will be about six or seven parasailers on the boat.

The boat ride is a great part of the experience too. They really haul a** to get out to the point where they start the parasailing, so the ride is really fun too.

Once you get out into deeper water, the parasailing will start. The crew will have you seated on the boat in the order you will parasail. When your turn is coming up, they will help you into a harness with a life vest. Then you go up these couple of steps and sit on the carpeted back of the boat. They hook up the sail, speed up the boat, and away you go. You spend about five minutes or so actually up in the sail. It's an awesome view. You might want to consider bringing a little disposable camera up with you. You can get some amazing pictures of your ship from up there, as you will sail over where it is anchored. You might also want to bring a second camera and ask someone else to photograph you from the boat.

You can ask for the "freefall" option. It's really not a freefall, but they will slow down the boat so that you lose altitude. You will skim the surface of the water with your feet and then they'll speed the boat back up again. It's funny cause, of course, there will be someone in the boat who will yell "shark!" :)

When your time is over, they winch you back in. You land ever so gently right back on the boat. Then they disconnect your harness from the sail, and the next person goes.

It's really tons of fun, and a very, very peaceful experience. It's not a heart-stopping adrenelin-packed sort of ride, but rather a very gentle, very peaceful one. The acoustics are funny up there too. Sometimes you can actually hear conversations taking place 500 feet below you on the boat. It's neat.

I think it was around $50 or $60 and it was worth every penny.

I don't think two adults can do it as a double, can they? I've seen mother and child go tandem, but never two adults. I believe the total weight limit for the sail would probably be no more than 250 or 300 pounds, so those adults would both have to be pretty small.

Also, when two people go tandem, they generally get a longer ride since there are two of them. If I recall, the mother and child I saw go got about ten minutes in the air.

Just think how much fun two adults can have that far up in the air......

Sort of like their own version of the "Mile High Club." :)

There isn't enough alcohol on a ship to get me to go parasailing. However, DH went up a couple of years ago and thoroughly enjoyed himself. His boat didn't just go around the bay, it went out past where the ship was anchored and they sailed higher and longer than the groups in the bay. I went swimming with the stingrays and enjoyed myself while DH was flying with the birds. Both of us were happy campers and that's what cruising's all about.

Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)

I see you went swimming with the Dolphins at Half Moon Key.

They did have a strange look to them
