Can anyone give a guideline as tipping the Concierge in the Neptune Lounge for average things like dining reservations etc. I would have the slightest idea and I want to do the right thing. Do you tip before or after cruise ends. Any help would be greatly appericated. Thanks Rick

We tipped both the young ladies who were on conciegr duty on our voyage. I suppose the amount would depend on what services they provided for you - perhaps a few dollars per day - per person to each of the staff? Tipping is such a personal matter - you may find many will hesitate to suggest an amount.

I would not hesitate to tip the staff, especially if they make reservations for you, book shore excursions, etc.

Hope this helps. :)

On the Rotterdam we tipped the 2 ladies in the Neptune lounge the last night at sea. They seemed very appreciative.

We tip them on the last day according to how we utilized them. They were very helpful to us and we enjoyed the Neptune very much.

Tipping is a personal matter.

We tip the concierge(s) according to how much we use the service as well as the lounge. We tip them the last evening as it can be very hectic the last morning before everyone leaves. Depending on the size of the ship depends whether we have had 1 or 2 concierges.

We tipped her $50 on our last 16 day cruise and we were not heavy users of her services. She seemed pleased.

I don't want to sound cheap, we do tip the ladies in the neptune lounge, but also consider you are paying a higher price to receive those services as part of your cruise. tip whatever you like, they do a great job but again part of the is in our cost of the suite we booked, it is up to each individual.

Does not the Concierge share in the auto-tip? HAL says the auto-tip is shared by all. HAL needs to be more specific about the auto-tip policy.

We certainly have paid a premium price for those rooms.

When we stay in a fine hotel that does not have a Concierge (Club) Floor but we use the services of the Concierge (located in the lobby), we have paid a high price for our room but we tip that Concierge.

We tip the Concierges in Neptune Lounge.

 Concierge tipping is what you do on board ship since there aren't any cows, right?

Are they part of the auto tipping program? If they are and did nothing more than you described, then why tip more?

I have tipped them as much as $300. on NCL because of what they did and the fact that they were not part of the tipping program.

Learjet- to answer your other question, I tip when the service is provided rather than waiting until the end of the trip. I used the concierge quite a lot, so wanted to let her know I appreciated the extra help.

I read your post. I understood what you wrote. I read in your post you were pondering about tipping extra seeing as a premium price had already been paid for the Suite. I also read that you said you tip.

My response applies to the part you wrote about.......we've already paid a high price for the room and that should include the Neptune Services. I equated the Neptune with Club Floors in Hotels. If (as most people do) folks tip for the 'extras' on a Club Floor; most people will tip for the extras they get from Neptune Lounge. IMO

Sail-

I didn't read it that way - I think I read it the way it was intended... she said she tipped the concierge - IMO, "good for her" - so few people even bother. ;)

As a second thought... saying, "also consider you are paying a higher price for those services" ... well, sorry - to me this is a "no brainer" - sure you ARE paying more - part of the published services relate to the concierge... to me that means it is included - the same as having a regular cabin steward... tip what you feel comfortable tipping - why should it be any different than services in a regular cabin?

Just like in the hotel on the concierge/club level - we pay a heck of a lot more for that level... we like it - but, we also PAY for it... In a hotel, I only tip a concierge if he/she has gone out of the way to be helpful, or provide a service we could not get otherwise.

We do not normally tip the staff on the "club level" at a hotel (and yes, we stay on those floors whenever possible) because we have PAID the hotel for that service... unless the staff go above and beyond the call of duty.

I have stayed in many hotel "club level" floors - and I have paid for it, IMO an extra tip is not always necessarily warranted. :)

P.S. We have the club level reserved for the Renaissance Ft. Lauderdale - can't wait to give it a try... it has VERY high marks/recommendations.
