Comparing 2010 Oceania (B to HK)15 days vs Azamara (SIN to HK)14 days the price for a penthouse vs a sky suite(same room) is double.
If the ships and service, etc are really the same this differential is quite substantial. Of course, I understand the itineraries are different and when picking a cruise you must love the itinerary. We will in fact go on O next fall in Europe and pay a 50% premium over A because of the ports and days at sea.
A difference like this asia one is really quite substantial. We go on our first A in Oct after being O people- I hope we find it just as nice.
This pricing strategy by A will work when the diffference is that much-

Been on both O & A and our Quest cruise was in their early days, just a couple months for the ship after refitting. Would have said THEN that Azamara was better in friendliness of crew...which passes on the passengers. Itinerary was lacking but was their 1st trip thru the Panama Canal...learned a few lessons and changed with the experience. Not all of O's stops are so great...they're still doing Tunisia...which is a dirty boring place...we were offloaded at a commercial dock which led to trouble with truckers (ending in 1 fistfight between Bus driver & trucker and OUR bus actually being HIT a glancing blow on the bumper by a truck who refused to give up right of way). The amenities on Azamara are better shipwide...everyone gets the fancy toiletries etc etc. Do have to pay that small extra tip for the Specialty dining you don't on O....BUT those ships are the main draw and they are the same pretty much (BUT the artwork is weird on Azamara...due to the association with Celebrity whom I hear has even stranger stuff...will find out on next cruise on the MILLE...was best cruise for price to Aust/NZ MUCH cheaper!!)

Did the O fare include airfare or a credit if not used?

I enjoyed the art on Quest. Much of it is modern by some very famous artists (Andy Warhol, for example) & very expensive. No copies.
