Thoughts for renting a car for the day in Aruba? Is there a rental at or close to the pier?

just be careful. this year, we rented (on-line ahead of time) a jeep for the day. Let's just say that after bouncing around for two hours in a jeep that we swear was from WW II, we parked at an ocean-side resort and enjoyed civilization. If we were to do it again, we would arrange a snorkeling excursion, or a day-pass at one of the resorts. And we are NOT resort type folks!!! Aruba is arrid, and there just isn't that much there. dusty, plain, not much to see. If you drive around for an hour you have seen everything. So plan on doing something other than sight-seeing for the day. Beach day. or day at a resort. that's about it. People are wonderful and warm. We really liked their reception. enjoy your day!

We hired a jeep at the end of the pier and had a great day driving around the island. It was one of the highlights of our cruise.

We rented a car in Aruba several years ago and had a wonderful day. We opted for a car with A/C, as it is hot and dry on the south end of the island. We headed south to the ports and had lunch at a hole in the wall I read about on the ports of call page, I think it was called "Charlie's". Fantastic shrimp! Headed to the caves and did some exploring and off to Baby Beach for some beach time. We then drove to the Natural Bridge and back up north and then down back to the dock. Would do it again in a heart beat. I just researched info on the web about car rentals and chose the best rate. We thought the A/C was worth the extra price.
